The transfer thread

I don't rate KWP at this level. His size is still a massive issue, he just gets bullied.

Madueke (RW), Berchiche (LB) and Archer (GK) are three other possible CT options

Never was a good player, Southampton is his level, it's why 5 seasons later no one "bigger" has come in for him.

Reddit seems to have a weird obsession with him, bunch of Spurs fans there always going on about us buying him back.

And yet if I recall correctly you went on about wanting us to sign Lamptey for ages.

There is no hope of Chelsea being prepared to loan Madueke to us and no chance that we would pay anywhere near what they would sell him for (and nor can I see him wanting to leave Chelsea to join Spurs).

Jordan Archer has not played a single match in the Championship for nearly 4 years and hasn't been first choice for anyone for 8 years. I suppose he might be an improvement on the two homegrown keepers in our PL and Europa squads but if we're having to rely on any of those players then we're in a bad place.

Berchiche is 34 years old now. I can't see how anyone could feasibly consider him a better option than KWP, especially when only one of them is adapted to top level English football.

Honestly mate, I don't care what Rashford does, as long as it's not related to Spurs.

He's a player in his prime that despite playing almost a decade of top level football hasn't found consistency, seemingly motivation, doesn't seem willing to lead/take responsibility on pitch, and can't stay out of the press. All while being paid an outrageous salary.

Maybe he goes on to do something spectacular, maybe he fades out like just another overhyped English player, don't care, he's just the kind of risk Spurs can't afford.
I get that you don't want him at Spurs. That's your opinion and fine. Opinions are just opinions and yours is as valid as mine or anyones

What I was pointing out is the folly of trying to use the fact that he accept won't accept a move to Saudi as justification for us not signing him. I bet you would also use it as an argument for us not to sign him if the exact opposite happened and he had decided to go and talk to Saudi clubs about a move instead of turning them down.

As for "risk we cannot afford". I disagree completely. The one thing we absolutely can afford is an increased wage bill. 6 months worth of Rashford's wages are not going to materially hurt us. We have the lowest wage to turnover ratio in the league.

I think he had the best stats in the Championship last season. Made the Championship 'team of the season' which indicates that he must be reasonably decent. He's no world beater but, of all the players we could sign to help our association trained player count for the Europa he is probably the most sensible in terms of suitability.

He's a mediocre player (we can have deep conversation re what his weaknesses are, and they haven't changed), signing mediocre players always backfires. Additionally we already have 2 players in that position (Porro/Spence).

Fair, even though I still think it's a sign of his mental space, I very much doubt he's is thinking of rebuilding his career at Spurs or Saudi Sportswashing Machine, he's thinking he's going up from United (but hey, could be worng)

The risk with Rashford is not the money, even though we would be nuts to make him our best paid player, which would cause issues with player like Deki/Romero, etc. The risk is he is not a fighter, the last thing, the very last thing this club needs is another player that goes missing, that isn't up for the fight every game (something Rashford has never been).

I think that's somewhat harsh. He has been one of our better players this season IMO. A few bad games but quite a few good ones as well.

Well as they say its all a bout opinions, my son in law is a ST holder at Norwich and he said you never knew what Maddison would turn up, some games he was very good others he just never turned up. He was the same at Leicester and he is showing the same here.

Talent is there but he never seems to be able to produce it on a regular basis. He is not a kid anymore.

It would only be on loan until the Summer. I don't think it would cause any issues at all.

Romero will be gone this summer anyway IMO (he'll get his move to Real Madrid as his contract is running down).

So, we are looking to sign the below:

Sam Johnston (Wolves) GK
Patrick Dorgu (Lecce) LB/DF
Angel Gomes (Lilles) DF
Ben Godfrey (Atalanta) DF
Fikayo Tomori (AC Milan) DF
Milan Skriniar (PSG) DF
Omar Alderete (Getafe) DF
Enzo Millot (Stuttgart) MF
Maxence Caqueret (Lyon) MF
Jack Grealish (Emirates Marketing Project) MF/Winger
Kolo Muani (PSG) CF
Evan Ferguson (Brighton) CF

Noting we will sign all of the above, but wondering who else we will sign on top of those?
You forgot damiao.

I thought it was interesting how clearly Spence dominated him when they went head-to-head the other week. It was man versus boy.

Cirkin is much more physically capable than KWP, plus he's left sided.

Cirkin would be at a premier league side by now if he was up to it mate. I admire your persistence for the last 3 years, but he's not coming back.

Dunno
We have seen Vic and others save shots like that just by being in the right place
It was a rocket I agree but Vicario makes a habit of coming out to them rather than going backwards like Forster or Hugo do
It’s by the by anyway. We can’t quantify what should have or would have happened
But I don’t think Forster has been the issue some thought he would be

Despite people saying to the contrary, we play less through him than we do with Vic. He has been less commanding than Vic. He his distribution has been worse. He has made some great saves, equally he has made some mistakes/been slow to ground for some goals. I do not remember him saving a 1 on 1 yet. I think a short-term keeper is very important.

Sadly, I have little faith that this lot are going to get players in as we need them. It was clear in mid-November where our issues were going to be, you'd have thought we'd have done the groundwork on some deals. Granted, the club operate quietly these days, but I still don't see much in the way of support for Postecoglu from the club beyond the sqwuad. This whole scenario has a nasty air of inevitability.
