BUT.. BUT.. We also wasted approximately 58 corners today.According to the narrative the pundits and media would have the world believe, WE ARE brick AT DEFENDING CORNERS, but the actual truth is that we have faced 58 corners this season and conceded just one goal, against the team that are the absolute best at attacking corners in the league. So credit to Ange and his coaches for making the required improvements.

Someone posted a stat the other day that showed Arsenal have taken 100% of all corners as inswinging ones towards the edge of the 6 yard box. I don't understand why we complicate it so much. Half the elaborate ones we attempt, we completely f**k up anyway.
True. Did you see United scored from one of his the other day lolWe used to take every corner towards the first post with Eriksen. 99 % hit the first defender.

He sure can nod in a corner.Hopefully when young Vuskovic breaks into first team we’ll be converting a few of those corners into goals
I still think that with younger players, particularly the more technical ones, who you play with makes a huge differenceHe sure can nod in a corner.
But I watched him play vs Club Brugge a couple of nights ago and he was far less impressive in general, due to the step up in class.
Not surprising for a child. He definitely has real class and potential, but it may take a loan to a top Champ club or low Prem club before he gets his chance at Spurs.
Not sure tbh. Would absolutely love it if he came striding in and took a squad spot.
Absolutely. Still a fairly small sample size, but by the eye test we're looking quite a bit better too.According to the narrative the pundits and media would have the world believe, WE ARE brick AT DEFENDING CORNERS, but the actual truth is that we have faced 58 corners this season and conceded just one goal, against the team that are the absolute best at attacking corners in the league. I quite like our approach. Mix it up a bit. Of course there's a chance of messing it up and missing out on the chance to put a ball in. But there's also the chance of working the ball to a better crossing position.BUT.. BUT.. We also wasted approximately 58 corners today.

That's true. The short corners look good when we get that cross in, problem is we mess them up too often and Romero and VDV just ended up trotting back having wasted an opportunity.Absolutely. Still a fairly small sample size, but by the eye test we're looking quite a bit better too.

Arsenal are the best around at corners right now, but that doesn't mean that their approach is the one right approach and the right approach for us.
Surely if you nearly always hit the first defender...you put an attacker in front of that defender....voila 99% success rate!We used to take every corner towards the first post with Eriksen. 99 % hit the first defender.
Most corners end up being "wasted". If that happens with short corners the criticism is often "why don't we just swing it in". If direct corners are wasted it's more rarely a criticism of "why don't we take more of them short".That's true. The short corners look good when we get that cross in, problem is we mess them up too often and Romero and VDV just ended up trotting back having wasted an opportunity.
Also, the Arsenal 'swing it into the edge of the 6 yard box' takes quite a bit of accuracy to pull off. We've all seen Eriksen fail to get it past the first man many times and it also feels like Maddison struggles sometimes with overhitting them, or swinging them too much and into the keepers hands etc.
Whatever we do, I hope we keep working on them in training as we get so many that we should be using them as a real weapon
I can't believe that every team in the league isn't copying Arsenal's corner routine. Put three players past the back of the far post who's job is simply to time their runs to come in and block the opposing keeper as the corner kicking is striking the ball. Then have 4 big physical players all run in to attack an inswinging ball that comes in 4 to 6 yards out.BUT.. BUT.. We also wasted approximately 58 corners today.
