The Official Olympic Thread

Stranger still is Boxing were the beaten semifinalists both get Bronze medals, whereas in other Sports there is a Bronze medal playoff.

That's because they aren't allowed to fight again for a few weeks after a knockout and their could be a knockout in the semifinals. Although knickouts seem very rare now.

except in judo where you have repechage's to earn a place for a bronze medal fight, against the losing semi finalists, and they still have 2 bronze medals. For me if you lose, you lose, it's like dropping into the bloody Europa League from the Champions League

Are you sure. I don't think its like this at the Olympics. The British woman yesterday lost her semifinal and then had a bout to determine the bronze medal with the other losing semifinalist.

Nope that was the winner of the repechage she fought against.

Elimination is excellent

I am so surprised there arent many crashes in cycling - margin of error is nothing

Does pressure and stress cause that ???

Can do. Shock as well. Sometimes it's just ramdom, like Gale Porter.

My grandad lost his business and his hair fell out when he was 40. Fantastic character from her to walk around proud and show it doesn't have to be a tragedy.

Decent run by Clancy.

Especially in his supposedly worst event.

Two favourites tomorrow so he should be in with a decent medal shout..

What's going on with Aussie sport at the moment? Seem to be struggling in everything they historically do well in, except perhaps Rugby.
