Why did Daley choose to do a 3.3 difficulty when others are doing a 3.6 difficulty

That multiplies up to leave him short of gold, surely?

Maybe not if the others **** up but they were all on 466 so surely he can't win?
 
Easier to do, means execution will be good if he nails it.. pressure will be on the others at a 3.6, if its not perfect, Daley could quite easily win the gold.

Can't believe Daley bottled it with a 3.3 to guarantee bronze, surely?
 
What a massive bottle job that was, he was leading the whole competition with one dive to go, then he does a 3.3 instead of a 3.6

He is DELIGHTED with bronze and the Chinese lad is GUTTED with silver

Just shows the difference in mentality

Daley can do a 3.6 all day if he had the balls to go for it

At least he medaled. And he didn't do a disappearing act like Phillips Idowu
 
The whole Chinese camp are crying, are they going to be sent into the Chinese wilderness to break rocks for 20 years?

Why didn't they explain that in commentary?

Twunts, he didn't bottle it, he couldn't bring out the 3.6 as he'd already used it up

The goal for the Chinese was to win all 8 diving events. A return of 6 golds, 3 silvers and 1 bronze is nothing short of a disgrace really.

But when they explained it wasn't a choice, it was determined by the redive, that is fine

It was a choice, but it was one he took before the competition. They said it was his best dive, so I guess the thinking was he'd have a relatively safe dive when the pressure was at its highest at the tail of the competition.
 
I think they all had a choice of when to do each type of dive. This 3.6 dive, most of them chose to finish with it, but Daley chose to do it at the start (it was the one he had to redo I think). He chose to end with a 3.3, but the others did their 3.3 earlier.

All did the same dives, just in a different order.
