The "Official" 2013/14 Other teams matches thread

Sponsors don't like players taking their shirts off; they want their jam stains in the middle of the shot of the goal celebrations.

People will complain. It is human nature.

I watched a comedian recently who did a great shtick around people complaining about flying instead of marvelling at the fact that humans have invented a machine that we can get into that makes us better than birds.

I just think it's ridiculous to say that and I simply have to say I find it thoroughly miserable!

\o/

I wouldn't want to argue about it, but I think you'll find that it would be 8 points better-off...

Tottenham Hotspur Premier League Points Won 1992-93 to 2013-14

I won't argue about it, either, but it's 7.
In an earlier post I think you mentioned Wigan at home when the equivalent game is Wigan away.

A PALACE 1-0 QPR 0-0 +2
H SWANSEA 1-0 1-0 +2
A ARSENAL 0-1 2-5 +2
H NORWICH 2-0 2-2 +4
A CARDIFF 1-0 Wigan 2-2 +6
H CHELSEA 1-1 2-4 +7
H WEST HAM 0-3 3-1 +4
A ASTON VILLA 2-0 4-0 +4
H HULL 1-0 Reading 3-1 +4

Edit: Four tough upcoming fixtures

A EVERTON 1-2
H Saudi Sportswashing Machine 2-1
A Emirates Marketing Project 1-2
H MAN UTD 1-1

1-1-2 last term. I would rather win a couple and lose a couple than draw all 4.
But sensibly 1 win and 3 draws would be very acceptable.

Another edit:
We lost game 10, 11, 12 last term

H WIGAN 0-1
A Emirates Marketing Project 1-2
A ARSENAL 2-5

Now here's a funny thing...

A win tomorrow at Goodison Park (difficult, but not beyond the realms of possibility) would see Spurs in second place in the Premier League Table, two points clear of both Chelsea & Liverpool.

And Spurs would be 8 points better-off than the identical matches played last season.

Makes you wonder what would happen when we start to play good football.

Hopefully we won't have had to rely upon penalties to provide 33% of our meagre goal output plus we'll avoid any more humiliating results like that 0-3 abomination at home to Wet Spam... :-&

Although the mark of a good side is the ability to grind out wins even when not performing at its best, so hopefully once this squad clicks we'll go on a glorious run of high scoring wins which will once again make us the team neutrals want to watch whilst we build an insurmountable lead ahead of the L'ARSEnal in the league... =D>

61-39 possession Chelsea-Saudi Sportswashing Machine and yet the experts on MOTD say Saudi Sportswashing Machine deserved their win and were the better side.
But those stats clearly show that Chelsea deserved to win, don't they? ;)

That win by United does not look as emphatic when you see their 1st 2 goals were offside.
That Fulham guy is gonna get a long ban.

wow, really won't let it go will you?:ross: Who did they say deserved to be leading at half time by the way? Because, you see, Chelsea were the better team having all the chances in the 1st half, then crucially the game changed in the 2nd and Saudi Sportswashing Machine played better, ultimately deserving their win. Keep making comments though, maybe one of these scenarios will help the west ham game sink in for you. I await the next one with bated breath!

 not this again, comparing this season with last season on an individual game by game basis

please can we stop...its futile. I mean look at the above, how can you compare those matches and the results? how?

Just accept it mate. A lot of us think this is an interesting perspective that adds something to discussion and how we look at the results.

No one is claiming that this is the perfect way to interpret results, just that it's a different and interesting perspective. If you don't like it, just let it be and ignore it...

I feel quite confident in saying that there aren't anyone on here that has said that having 60% possession means that you deserve to win a game of football. If someone has said that I feel quite confident that their opinion wasn't taken particularly seriously.

You bring up interesting points and your frequently make good posts, I have no idea why you feel the need to litter them with all of these straw men.

If I'm wrong and somehow "having 60% of possession means that you deserve to win a game of football" is a widely held opinion around here feel free to quote some posts of a couple of posters saying that and I'll offer my apologies.

Remy booked for celebrating with disabled fan. **** rule.

He was booked for removing his shirt. Had nothing to do with the disabled fan. Agree its a stupid rule, one day they will nullify celebrations as it will cause offence to the opposition.

Agreed. Its almost as ludicrous as people obsessed with the fact that a record points tally last season meant it was a brilliant sucessful season (but dont start me on that one as we will be here all day).

were genuine questions actually, would be interested to hear your take on that game.
Here we go again.

The best team wins every game.

Sometimes there is luck or cheating and there could be a discussion about that statement.

The Chelsea game is not one of those games.

You have a contrary opinion to that which I respect but do not wish to discuss. I do not expect you to accept my opinion and I do not want to discuss a game I want to forget about.
