The "Official" 2013/14 Other teams matches thread

He is quality. My biggest fear is that the goons take advantage of the politics/French connection and snaffle him in January. It would hand them the title IMO...

How much better do you think he is than Giroud? As Giroud has had a good season so far for them.

Benzema ****es all over Giroud.

Giroud is a decent finisher, give him a chance he'll mostly score, but when you have Cazorla, Ozil etc. creating for you, you're going to score. I reckon Bendtner could be given a run in that team and score goals.

class from Alexis, things havent been good for him since he signed but that was quality. Not as good as Sturridges earlier though.

He can prove why he deserves a starting place? Like the likes of Sandro did in the earlier games in the competition.

Sandro was always going to play once he was fit. So Defoe scoring against Tromso means he deserves to start league games ahead of Soldado? Ok then.

but Defoe playing well and scoring GOT him his start, so I'm not sure what you're talking about.

and i dont really agree with the Sandro one, he SHOULD always be playing when fit but if he was to play against Tromso etc in europe and play ****, he wouldnt be getting in the side, especially over Dembele and Paulinho who have been pretty solid. It's his great performances that has seen him now become a starter once again.

I think he's been improving the longer that he has been at the club. I think we've seen today what he's capable of and I'm expecting him to shine long term at the club.

yeah, barca fans turned on him but its goals like that, which he is capable of, that will win the hearts back. He is talented.

age shouldnt mean a thing.

Bale cost £80m, people are laughing because he has struggled for game time at Madrid (mostly down to injury), getting benched in games, failing to produce heroics likes he did here.

Lamela cost £30m, people saying it's fine, can't speak the language, he'll come good in the end.

I know Lamela will come good, I've seen him about 50 times. Will he be the type of guy to win games for us constantly like Bale did? **** no, he'll never reach Bales level of last year and it's rare we'll see someone do such a thing, but Lamela will give us solid performances, won't beat 3 men with pace like Bale would do, but he slows the game down to his level, will beat a man with skill and score the occasional screamer.

But I will not ever want Bale to fail. He was a pleasure to watch and the best footballer I have seen play for Spurs in my lifetime. too young to see Gazza etc. To want him to fail is pathetic, do I condone his actions on missing training etc. Not at all, we have no idea what happened, Bale probably didnt even know what was happening, someone in the back may have said he'll have his move (but we didnt want to sell until we got our signings in), and Bale was just frustrated that late into the window he was STILL at Spurs when told otherwise? I don't know.

Lamela had a pre-season, Bale hasn't.

Partly because Bale himself chose not to.

To want him to succeed could also been seen as pathetic given how he behaved over the summer. I wish players all the best that leave on good terms, the likes of Berbatov, Modric, Bale can **** off as far as I'm concerned.

Not sure where you're getting that from...I am pointing out some clear issues that surround him right now. I DO have a very clear idea what happened, I said it in the summer, and got my usual ****ging for it from a few. the bottom line is that when you buy a Ferrari and drive it like a Fiat Uno, you will destroy the car. They aren't designed for that. And Bale doesn't have the ego necessary to force his issue. I think it's a tragic waste...I noted that he could yet find his feet, but he will NOT get much time. I'd say he's fast living on borrowed time right now...

That Sanchez goal? Unbelievable. Stupidly great.

Wasn't Bale injured?

And I'm saying it shouldn't have, he missed our best and only clear cut chance in the game he started so it wasn't the correct decision.

it wasn't the correct decision, you're right. But it was still his performances that gave the manager the thought to even put Defoe in the team, Defoe DESERVED the start but it doesnt mean it was the correct one in the end.

If Lamela had scored a hattrick for example against Sheriff, would I expect to see him against Hull? I'd expect a start if I am honest with you.
