It is infuriating how we invariably seem to make ManU look good be it throwing away 2 / 3 goal leads or just making elementary errors to hand them the game ](*,)

Wish that our players could play with the confidence that Bilbao exuded tonight, as we saw on Sunday how ordinary this ManU side is but just couldn't flipping well put them to the sword yet again. Perhaps if we could manage to sign a couple of these Bilbao players who have the experience of outplaying and beating ManU on their own turf that they could instil that belief into the rest of our team.

I dont think we made Utd look good on Sunday and I dont think anyone was fooled. They were clinical yes but good? fudge no.

I do agree though that I wish we could play Utd by going all out. Their defence isnt very good and I really do think had we played Defoe things may have been different.

Maybe we could put in a rival bid of ?ú100kpw and say he should join whichever team finishes higher...

Gazump!

Start defoe v manyoo ? I'm thinking it woulda been like a couple of seasons ago at home, defoe scored first then we got turned over - by their ten men... Rooney scored when up against (if i'm not mistaken) our two full backs and goalie. Laughable, just sad and laughable

Terrible player. I'll laugh very hard if they sign him.

He also had to move back to Cologne from Bavaria a few seasons ago because of homesickness.

He's not a wide-man, he's an inside forward. He comes off the wing and drifts into the space on either side of the central defenders. He's very much like Gio, in that respect. And we all know how well Gio's stint here turned out. Now, part of that is because Dos Santos just never could be bothered, but another part is because our playing system is not conducive to inside forwards. We play with traditional wingers (though we seem to have abandoned that recently with a 'Free Bale!' approach), and thus aren't set up tactically to accomodate someone like Podolski.

He'll do well for them, no doubt. It's a good signing, and I for one don't mind it. We should aim to compete with them and beat them at their best. I know their fans never did the same with us, but we're not that low.

Agree.

He's basically a poor man's Arshavin.

If we get Hazard and Arsenal get Podolski, it will be as significant as the summer we got Armstrong and they got Bergkamp (but with roles reversed).

Two points from that game:

Its ridiculous the number of teams that can beat Man utd when we fail (and mostly lose) over and over again.

I hope people stop saying La Liga is crap because the top two dominate the league. The top 2 dominate the league because they're significantly better than all the other teams in Europe. And the teams just below them are actually really rather quite good.

That's the annoying thing, we invariably outplay ManU but yet they go on to win comfortably despite performing badly. They are so used to beating us season after season that they seem to expect to do so and don't even need to raise their game unless they give us a 2/3 goal headstart.

Such as Sunday where they barely mustered an attack but still went 3-0 up due to defensive lapses and poor finishing by our forwards. Then just to ensure that there's no chance of us mounting a comeback for a change, Harry procrastinates over the subs until the game was all but over.

It's a shame Levy will be scared of hiring a man like this after Ramos experiment went so wrong.

but Bielsa's Bilbao are pretty average in La Liga, yes they are 5th but they have won 9 out of 25 league matches, and for all the attacking intentions and with Llorente and Munain they have only scored 41 goals in those games. Ok La liga is dominated by the big two, but that doesnt stop teams like Bilbao, or valencia smashing the other teams if they really were that good

they are not, they are average if you look at results they gain against each other. Like i said above, if you take out the top 2 there, teams like Bilbao, Valencia, Sevilla, A Madrid, Malaga etc have amassed poor points totals against the rest. Valencia are 3rd with 43 points after 25 games, imagine Spurs were 3rd with 53 points at the same stage in the Premier League, and in previous seasons it would have been the likes of Arse or Chelsea in the same position

La liga is not crap, but its definitely weaker than it has been in past years. Tbh i think its the same across the whole of europe. I still think the talent pool of players is slowly but surely dwindling, thats even taking into account some clubs and their stockpiling of talent (yes, you Emirates Marketing Project)

One can glance at the PL table today and conclude the exact same thing - 2 horse race, 1 team below over-achieving (based on previous seasons) and the rest is exactly the same as in Spain.

Point here, I believe is the quality of football which Bilbao (and Valencia last night against PSV) displayed which from an objective point of view was great to watch and deserved many plaudits.

If you think that we'd have it easy against any Top 7 Spanish team (in a cup game, etc.) - I think you'd be rather surprised. So to say those teams are average (i.e. Sunderland, Everton, Villa - like) is a tad bit unfair, imv

Pretty difficult when you can only buy Basque players. It's a challenge for any manager. Give Bielsa a fullly fledged attacking side reminiscent of his Chilean team, you'll get hard work, passion, exciting attacking football and pressing that would keep Barca on their toes.

Been looking at a cheap Bilbao away shirt but can only find the 'orignial' which is 75 Euro ex. postage!

Any links to cheap sites?

Love it that English teams are getting dingdonged.

Love the fact we'll all be out of europe by the end of March.

Love the EPL 'project' is coming off the rails.

Love that the english league is actually egtting more competitive.

Love that clubs like Rangers are going to the wall

Hope that this will translate into lower wages, fees, and ticket prices

fudge Sky, fudge mercenary players, fudgerip off tickets and beer and pies, fudge it all.
