Not too bothered about Liverpool winning the league cup, was cheering for Cardiff to win as the underdog, but without caring too much.

Like most people here not sold on Daglish, I think the league cup win along with his status at the club means that he's guaranteed to keep his job even if they fail to get CL football this season. I think that's good for us.

Quite possibly the worst of the worst scenario type of weekend

Chelsea won

City won

Utd won in stoppage time

We got mauled in the NLD after going 2:0 up

Parker was sent off

Liverpool win a trophy on penalties

Might not be that bad. Parker looks tired and like he needs a break, shame the England midweek waste of space friendly is occurring.

Get Sandro up to fitness and throw him out against United. He should do fine if his fitness is better.

winning a trophy can never be a bad thing, Liverpool can easily now go on and win the FA cup (must be favourites as the Manchester teams are out)

im not sure we have the character to prevent them from doing so

shall we see how we do in our next game before declaring us devoid of character?

Yup. I'd be more confident of us having character if we'd done something like, say, lose 3-0 to Man Utd and 5-1 to Emirates Marketing Project, yet bounce back with a run of 10 wins and a draw in our next 11 games. Obviously that's just fantasy talk though.

i didnt say we were devoid of character, but to win trophies takes a certain type of character. We have the players with talent to win the FA cup this year, but talent is never enough.

i was talking about the FA cup

Did we have that character when we last won the League Cup?

Manu got thumped by their local rivals earlier this season, are they short on character as well?

It was one game, one really disappointing, poor game where many players underperformed. But still just one game.

It's a cliche, but it really is about how you respond to disappointment.

So we've got character that can take us on good undefeated runs in the league but that character doesn't count in FA Cup matches?

i think cup competitions provide a different kind of pressure than in league games. Just a feeling ive always had. Plus im not just talking about the players, the manager/coaches, the whole club has to step up.

after all, why do many of us mock the Arse for going 8 years without a trophy. Arent we in some way insinuating they are a bunch of losers, despite the fact that in those 8 years they have finished in the top 4 every year. So good unbeaten runs in the league are not enough for a top club it seems

It also means they have the distraction otherwise known as the Europa League. They didn't want to be in it this season apparently, that's what they said when we beat them at Anfield last season.

They're dying to be in it next season though, 'A club like Liverpool is nothing if it's not in Europe'.

Bent ruled out for rest of season. Villa in serious danger of going down given their remaining fixtures.

Home: Fulham, Bolton, Chelsea, Stoke, Tottenham, Sunderland.

Away: Blackburn, Arsenal, Liverpool, Man Utd, WBA, Norwich

villa wont go down, theres 3 bricker teams than them

I don't think Villa will go down, but not because there are 3 bricker teams, just because they have an 8 point gap to Blackburn and 9 points to other two in the bottom three.

They have been really bad this season.

C'mon Crawley........should be 2 or 3 up by now.

Can't believe they are on Sky 2 mondays in a row. Away to Southend next monday.
