Arsenal are ready to offer Jack Wheelchair a new deal that will keep him at the Emirates for the next five years.

Talks are planned for early in January between the club and Wheelchair’s representatives, and it is hoped a new contract can be agreed by the end of the season.

It will tie the England star to Arsenal until 2020 and put him among the club’s top earners with wages of around £150,000 a week.

There will be significant bonuses in the deal which could bolster his salary even further.

Wheelchair, who will be 23 in January. is seen as a future captain of the club. He has shown what he can achieve now that he is free of the injuries that have blighted him in recent seasons.

Right...

I would've loved Wheelchair to try what he did on Fellani on somebody like Graham Roberts back in the day, he would've been squashed

Can imagine what Dave MacKay would've done to Wheelchair if he tried those antics on him! Or even Roy Keane!

@SundayChants: Jack Wheelchair would get knocked out in Sunday league.

The referee needs asking why he has seen the incident as clearly as he has and not done anything, rules are rules

He obviously didn't see it properly. There's no explanation for it otherwise, even for **** ref like Dean.

Can they review the incident after the game as there was no yellow?

Not if the ref saw it and dealt with it. Maybe it has to be in the report for them to use that excuse.

He's always the aggressor in those situations too. Look how calm the people he's going up against are compared to him. I always feel the person who keeps their cool is more likely to win a fight.

that FA cup win could be the worst thing that ever happened to the scum, it would have been easy to get rid of wenger, he's too powerful there now anyway, lots of yes men, its clear in footballing terms, he's yesterday's man

Less Yes men than men who are happy to leave Wenger to it. He doesn't have the support he had with Dein or even with Fiszman. The Liverpool owners are similar which is why they left Dalgeish to make such a fool of himself (and the club) by supporting Suarez the way he did.

They do have one man who could make a difference but he is excluded ...

Wenger's 'principles' are costing Arsenal, says billionaire shareholder Usmanov

Arsenal shareholder Alisher Usmanov says manager Arsene Wenger is stopping Arsenal from succeeding because of his 'principles'.

In an exclusive interview with CNBC, the Uzbek businessman, the world's 34th richest person with a fortune estimated at $18billion (£11.5bn), says that while Wenger may be "one of the greatest coaches", his "principles" - when it comes to spending money and building a team capable of challenging for trophies - are a "restriction".

"[Wenger] is one of the greatest coaches not just of European, but of world football. But we have Russia proverb which goes – ‘Even an old lady can have a roof falling on her’. Everybody makes mistakes," said Usmanov.

"I like Arsene for his principles. But principles are sort of restriction. And restrictions are always lost possibilities. That's why sometimes coaches even without principles became the coaches of great teams... Does he have money or not? There is officially money in the club. How does he spend them - this decision investors have left with him."
