The Goon Thread

I think we should care less about them. We are 7 points ahead of Cheatski and 5 behind the 2 Manc teams, they should be our immediate concerns. Arsen*l are no more of a concern than Lolerpool or Saudi Sportswashing Machine.

I still can't get past the fact their website is called Arsemania. I'm sure that brings up a lovely google picture search with the safesearch turned off.

Scum have massive strength in depth however, specially in midfield. Other than Van Pervie they don't have world class players, but the majority of their players are all as good as each other. They are able to replace players without harming the team.
Look at their possible attacking Cms - Arteta, Ramsey, Wiltshire, Benayoun, Rosicky. All are neat tidy creative players.
At DM - Coquelin, Song, and to an extent Ramsey and Djourou can play their
WF- Walcott; Arshavin; Gervinho; Oxlade Chamberlain. Not much to pick between any

Whereas with us an injury crisis and we are left with Nelson at the back, Dos santos on the flanks, Livermore in CM alongside Krancjar feeding balls for Saha to run onto.

CM's Arteta (average, certainly no Modric/Fabregas) Ramsey (absolute turd), Wiltshire (injured), Benayoun (a failure at Pool and Chelsea) Rosicky (never established himself as a decent player in England)
DM's Coquelin (unproven and untalented from what I've seen) Song (good player), I would love to see Ramsey play as the defensive midfielder he'd get over-run by Wigan's midfield let alone a top team.
As for Walcott, Arshavin, Gervinho - it's not April Fools Day, those three are all proven brick. Chamberlain is the only thing they've got going for them in terms of youth.

An injury crisis sees us put in Dawson, Bassong, Nico, Sandro, Defoe and Saha - hardly terrible. No club finds an injury crisis easy to deal with.

Well how has the super strong midfield done so far? I make them 13pts behind us.

Arteta - Very good player
Ramsey - Good on a rare occasion
Wiltshire - Good, majorly overhyped, and out for the season
Benayoun - Average
Rosicky - Complete and utter sh#t
Coquelin - Decent
Song - Very Good
Djourou - Average
Walcott - Sh#t
Arshavin - Sh#t
Gervinho - Average
Oxlade Chamberlain - Another hungry kid, getting overhyped

Dont see that as massive depth at all. Why do you belittle Livermore and Krancjar, but laud Rosicky and Djourou?

Agree with most except Ramsey and Walcott. The latter would walk in our team and give Lennon a great run for his pessos. Ramsey has shown glimpses of great potential but very much inpolished, granted

I really don't see him as any better than Lennon. Ramsey has had a poor season (hence their lower than average position) and without looking at the number of assists he's created I would say it's low. Which given the Rapist has been on fire has to be seen as poor.

Song has been linking up with RVP the best out of everyoone, imv

I would argue Walcott is the better finisher compared to Lennon and would (in a hypothetical scenario) be in contention for a starting spot alongside him. Similar to Dzeko and Balotelli at bricky.

Any better than Lennon is insulting in my opinion.

Walcott is a rubbish footballer. All he has is pace, and the occasional good finish. No footballing brain, and doesnt even know how to use his one asset. If he did play for us, he'd get more abuse than Pav and Jenas put together.

I think wearing the Scum shirt equates to being a brilliant player in some people eyes. Pathetic really.

Lennon is streets ahead of Walcott.

And Ramsey's done nothing to suggest hell be a solid top 4 player. I'd rather have Jebas.

Walcott scored more goals last season than Lennon in the last 5-6 years. If Lennon had the same return he'd be in contention for our Player of the Season, no doubt

Take of those spec off, Ted - just because he's scum doesn't mean he's shyte.

Walott is not very good- one way to tell is by reading what fans who see him every week say - arsenal fans say he is rubbish.

lennon is massively under rated and for an attacking player is very very good getting back.

I'm not sure if this post is a wind up or if you're a gooner frankly.

Benayoun and Ramsey decent AMs and Ramsey and Djourou DMs?!!

Rosicky is totally inconsistent, 1 good game followed by 3 brick ones.

Massive strength in depth??! what a load of gonads

Some Spurs fans also say Defoe and Parker and BAE are rubbish

I'd agree Lennon is by far the better 'defender'

yep but most/all gooners say walcott is crap. He has one trick - pace- if he can't use that in a game (defender drops off) he gives nothing - loads of 4 or 5 out of 10's.

Not sure what gooner forums you read to form that opinion

I think we'd just have to agreee to disagree on this one

I had this whole argument about how goalscoring records are a poor comparison, as the way Arsenal play means wide players get greater goal scoring opportunities, etc ... and then I did some research and found out the difference is marginal. Apart from one good season, Walcott's record is nothing too flash when compared to Lennon.

Walcott
2006ÔÇô07 16 0
2007ÔÇô08 25 4
2008ÔÇô09 22 2
2009ÔÇô10 23 3

Walcott scored 13 goals last season

Anyhow - my original point was that if he came in tomorrow he would most definitiely be in contention to start on the RW for us and push Lennon for the spot. That is all

9 in the league. Bale only scored 11 in total. I suppose Walcott is better than Bale as well.

Bale had a quiet second half of the season hence the poor goal return

Do you read the point I made further up and do you genuienly think he wouldn't be in contention for a start with us on the right wing?

I think he'd push Lennon because I think Lennon occasionally rests on his laurels a bit. But when both are on top of their game, Walcott may grab more opportunistic goals but Lennon provides a more potent attacking threat, and the decision as to who would play wouldn't need a second's thought.
