The Goon Thread

So Why didn't they spend big and keep RVP then? I think the club is in a malaise despite what Wenger says - do everything possible to keep Walcott and sell RVP that's the sign of a club with ambition.

This. I think they got despearte to apease the fans; and Walcott's agent knew it. If they don't make at least one signifcant buy this month then you can be sure there's a release clause in the new contract (only 3 and a half years??) that means he can leave in the summer for a specific fee, to a specific set of teams who can equal or better his now widely known wage.

The Walcott camp have won this one hands down - and Nasri, RVP, Cesc and possibly even Song are laughing at both Walcott and Arsenal imo.

Rvp wasn't there for the money in the end (thus not moving to City) - Walcott is very limited and done well in this. If they'd lost him on a free too then all hell would have broken loose. He had them nicely over a barrell

i dont think they can be criticised for selling him when they did, his mind was made up, he was leaving whatever they offered him, not taking the 24m would have been foolish

the criticism should be aimed at their policy in general, they started down this road many years ago

have to admit that i am more than a bit surprised they havent made any purchases. looks like the chatter was just that...... chatter

Anyway..back to Arsenal; do they have a hope against Chelski tomorrow? Think Chelski possibly needed this game to come now to stamp out their home 'hoodoo' plus their boo-boys are more likely to postpone their booing for a while during the game against the team that turn their nose up at them the most.

Can see a Chelski 2-0 win with Ba and Mata scoring.

I'd be happy with that

draw would be the best result as when we beat United that'll mean we're level with Chelsea and 8 points in front of Arsenal. (who'd have a game in hand)

The best non-Spurs fixture of the season for me. I am delighted with any outcome, win, lose or draw.
I think an Arsenal win would suit us better this year.

A draw or Chelsea win will do me. To me Arsenal are still our main rivals for CL spot, so I don't want them to win.

I think they'll beat West Ham, but Liverpool are starting to take shape and I'd be happy with a draw. Stoke know all about Arsenal and Arsenal know all about Stoke, won't be easy for Arsenal, not one bit. I can see 5 points.

1 - Theo Walcott's nine Premier League goals this season have won Arsenal a total of just one point (1-1 vs Everton). Immaterial.
