The thing I don't understand is Wheelchair went in just as reckless if not more than Kompany and you could tell by his immediate reaction he thought he may be in trouble himself. I understand that it is a point of emphasis but just a few years ago that wasn't even a foul by Kompany.

=D>
He is one of the worst referee/situation manipulators, a true Arsenal/Man U-style whinger, moaner. I think Dean is a great ref, and TBF, in real-time and with the angle he had, it probably looked bad BUT the ball was clearly won and had Kompany been going in two feet off the ground and studs up, Wheelchair would've (quite rightly) jumped out of the way.

There is nothing in the rule book about a tackle being 'two footed'.
No, but the current interpretations of the rules seem to go in that direction.

Yes, but that interpretation is making virtually any two footed tackle considered dangerous, not saying that only two footed tackles are dangerous.

I don't think the appeal has a chance or should do. Both players were coming in towards each other at speed and out of control. The referee had good reason to consider Kompany's tackle a sending off offence. I don't think it should have been a red but can see the case (it was a bit reckless). The FA can't say it was definitely the wrong decision.

Kompany's red against United is a different matter. That was a brilliant one-footed sliding tackle from the side. He was so in control he was able to get up in possession of the ball.

Anyone see wenger saying that they can spend big now the stadium is paid off?

Scary this is what i thought would happen and also it shows how good champs league football is for them that they could pay the stadium off so quickly.

All the more reason why we have to displace them from the CL this season.

Won't make a difference

Arsenal are years ahead of us

One season out of the CL won't hurt them

They can, and will, pay high enough wages to get enough quality in to catapult them back next season

There is no way we will displace them until we have our stadium paid off

If we displace them this year it won't be a mortal blow but it will be an 70-80 mil swing in revenue between the clubs. That's not chump change. Plus the added draw to transfer targets of CL participation will also kick in. Maybe it's just for one season, but it is one season further along our own progression path. We might just snag a few players while our stock is high that will carry us for a few years until the stadium revenue comes on stream.

Then we displace them this season BEFORE we start paying, that way we ahve the money up front. Also naming rights will go a long way to paying off any debt incurred building the new stadium.

SSN - Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has indicated a willingness to 'spend big' now that the financial restrictions of the move to the Emirates Stadium are easing.

So Why didn't they spend big and keep RVP then? I think the club is in a malaise despite what Wenger says - do everything possible to keep Walcott and sell RVP that's the sign of a club with ambition.

Good news or bad news for THFC? Discuss.....

His one of their best players so losing him to a PL rival would have been pointless - seeing they have already strenghtened Emirates Marketing Project and Utd substantially over the years. Doubt the fans would have taken it well, so possibly decided to cough up this time and keep everyone happy. Protects them either way should he wish to leave next season - increased fee
