I think we break quickly if we can and settle into probing possession if the opportunity is lost. I think Poch has alluded to needing that variation.

I must say I've really come round to the idea of Sissoko because we need more direct options than just N'Koudou, and I will also say I think we should be giving opportunities to the young players in the Dembele spot if he is out rather than playing a Wanyama/Dier pivot. It's so refreshing to sign a player and know that he has the attributes to fit our system. It's great to see young players step up when given the chance and proving transfer fees aren't everything. We should trust Poch.

We should give young players a chance. We should back Poch.
But it is a gamble to expect Winks, Edwards or Onomah to be game-changers. And it is game-changers we need. We are well organised at the back. We can keep the ball in midfield, but we don't have pace and if Kane is shackled we struggle for goals.
It is goals we need to enable, either via a clever game-changer, dribbler/playmaker, or an smart finisher.
I can't see the young players being able to do that and Janssen is an alternative style player but needs time. I would say even Bony might have helped, but I guess Emirates Marketing Project didn't want strengthen a rival?

Same thing has been said the last 2 summers, and we've exceeded expectations both times. Clearly Poch doesn't think the youngsters are the absolute be all and end all hence bidding for Sissoko, but he backs them enough to keep them around and let others go. We should be quietly confident in the man.

Poch's ethos won't work with a raft of signings and loads of integration required. It works with young players who give everything and do what they are told, and it works with a cohesive team that knows the gameplan and sticks to it. The summer of 2013 should be remembered by all Spurs fans as proof that money can't buy you footballing happiness. We need to go a different way. I'm pretty pleased with how we've ended up. Sissoko would be a bonus but if not, we have really talented players waiting to step up that our best manager in years believes in. And who has shown can develop those players.
 
One chap on the edge of his seat will be Marcus Edwards. If we staggeringly fail to bring in anyone, he has a much bigger chance of seeing some decent game time this year (and not just at Grrrrimsby away). If we were to bring in a £££ player he'll barely get a look in. I'm not saying he is or isn't good enough, but it could be a very big day in the career of this lickle lad.

Either Isco, Sissoko, Mayer and Schneiderlin are shooting a music video together to release at midnight, or the social media team have learned to not tweet Q&A's with Tom Carroll asking him what his favourite animal is on deadline day.
