The Cricket Thread

Ugh! That was a soggy end to the day. Well I assume it’s the end - can’t see it starting up again. We bailed once the torrential rain eased off. What a day for the traditional English summer to return!

Forecast fine for the next few days, doesn't help you though
You will get some money back though or should do

Some tests it will work, some it won't and it really didn't work this time

Issue here was not the brand of cricket it was those playing it. Even as grinders or slashers the same old failed again, Zac Crawley, I mean 26 tests in and 26 average its just not good enough. Alex Lees averages the same and is 29 there is a reason he only has 7 tests at this age. And the Jack Leech experiment didnt work, does not work, never worked

Absolutely ridiculous amount of cricket

You’re absolutely right about the openers, but the issue is, we don’t have anyone better. There is no easy answer/solution to it.

I guess the problem is no-one wants to be a dull opening batsmen anymore.

what we could do with a 21 year old Ali Cook!!!

Haha generational talent that lad.

Also the other issue is that no one plays county English conditions as they are all now centrally contracted to play this unbelievable England fixture list that means they are playing week in week out.

My Aussie mate said that two weeks before we played Ashes the Aussies were all playing Shield cricket against each other so the openings facing 90mph international bowling from their own team mates. England players are resting because they pretty much now only commit to England schedule so they literally go into every series cold, despite playing a high volume of cricket.

I also think we have suffered from Roots "mates" dressing room where too many outstayed their welcome

Shame we have let the Saffies get a few more than they should have done
97/8 now 138/8 still good if we can get them all out for 150 well unless they skittle us too
