Neither Ali or Lamela are at all effective as a striker. It would be incredibly difficult to bring in a worse suited player than either of them.

Those few weeks cost points and position. A striker last season and we might well be playing in the CL this season so the money you save on not filling the squad adequately is money you lose out on in the long run.

I agree with you re Hart but it's hardly the same situation, we have a decent backup keeper. A specialist for the position and have brought in a worse alternative option. That is not what anyone is advocating for re a striker, we don't have a striker to start the EL games, we don't have a striker to start the Carabo Cup games. We either thrash the brick out of Kane and Son playing them every match or we play games without a strike, score no goals and get knocked out by teams we should beat.

The problem is we are only being linked to that level of forward, Wilson, King, Watkins, nowhere near good enough for us.

If we can bring in a forward as good as Son for realistic money I’m all for it.

I also think we have the players to play an effective formation without a CF, and getting knocked out of the domestic cups early should be a primary target.

Until 1 or 2 get injured which is always the issue with our attackers
We need 8 for 3/4 places

we need to have a roster where everyone can contribute, we need versatility, I’m against having a third string just-a-forward simply for the sake of it

it would have been better for the squad (but possibly not the player) to just keep Parrott around

there’s a line, Hojbjerg does actually have CL experience according to his stats, one would hope
Doherty has shown enough to get games for us

random jobbers from championship sides is a different matter imo

But there is a reason why he is signing them hence why I thinkk he would have play them

I trust his judgement, I’m big enough to admit that he’s probably a better judge of a footballer than I am.

I’m not concerned that we’ve not signed “a striker” yet though, and I won’t consider it a failing of the club if we don’t, I’m happy with the options as they are, and neither impressed or excited by the prospect of those we have been seriously linked with.

DM and RB were both bigger issues. Another LB would be my priority now.

I’ve always thought tv and striker were most important but that’s just an opinion
We will get who we get in the end and we won’t IMO buy a player for the sake of it
