The all new Juniors/on-loan thread 2013/14

Tottenham's U21s take-on Reading in the Premier League at the ProKit UK Stadium, Bishop's Stortford tonight at 19:00.

Spurs are currently in 9th place in the table on 9 points while Reading are in 20th place with 6 points.

Harry Kane leads the line as our Under-21s return to action against Reading in the Barclays U21 Premier League at Bishop's Stortford FC tonight.

The in-form striker fired home his first senior goal at the Lane in last week's Capital One Cup victory against Hull City.

That was hot on the heels of his hat-trick on England U21 international duty and he has five goals in four appearances for our Under-21s so far this season.

Nabil Bentaleb, whose form earned a place on the bench in that cup win against Hull and goalkeeper Jordan Archer, who spent 2011-12 on loan at Bishop's Stortford, are also in the squad.

Kick-off at the ProKit UK Stadium is 7pm.

Squad:

Archer, Ball, Bentaleb, Coulibaly, Coulthirst, Fredericks, Gallifuoco, Kane, Lancaster, McEneff, Miles, Ogilvie, Stewart, Veljkovic, Ward.

He's back! I thought he was home sick and disappeared back to Italy ages ago?

Souleymane Coulibaly was on loan at Italian Serie B club Grosseto until the end of last season.

He scored twice in 12 appearances.

So where has he been since May? I didn't notice him appearing in any of the youth/U21 game updates in here

SPURS XI v COLCHESTER UNITED

Colchester United's under-21s will take on their Tottenham Hotspur counterparts in a friendly at Spurs Lodge tomorrow.

Richard Hall will take a squad made up of first-team players and academy players to the game, which will kick off at noon.

The likes of Tom Eastman, Ryan dingdongson and Tosin Olufemi will all get the chance to secure some valuable game time, as they continue their comebacks from injury and illness.

The U's have arranged to play Spurs after their friendly under-21 game at Watford, which was scheduled for this afternoon, was postponed because of a waterlogged pitch.

Spurs XI 3-3 Colchester United

Souleymane Coulibaly bagged a brace as our Development Squad drew 3-3 against a Colchester United XI on Wednesday.

Cameron Lancaster was also on target for us, but each time we took the lead we were pegged back by the visitors on a wet afternoon at the Training Centre.

Ruben Lameiras saw an early effort deflected behind for a corner, while Roman Michael-Percil produced a low stop from Colchester’s goalkeeper after a neat build-up involving Ryan Fredericks and Cameron Lancaster.

We were unlucky not to take the lead in the 23rd minute as Colchester’s stopper made a double save to deny Michael-Percil and Lancaster in quick succession, while our goalkeeper Jonathan Miles tipped over at the other end.

We took the lead on 39 minutes when Shaq Coulthirst switched play to the right with Michael-Percil who set up Lancaster to force the ball home amid a crowded area.

Miles made a spectacular diving save to deny Colchester a leveller shortly before the half-time – and with sweeping changes made at the break it was only our goalkeeper and midfielder Giancarlo Gallifuoco who remained from the first half side as the second period got underway.

Colchester levelled in the 54th minute when Andrew Bond finished well from a central position after we cheaply gave possession away following a throw-in, but we were back in front four minutes later as Coulibaly scored from the penalty spot after being brought down as he surged into the box.

The visitors drew level for the second time on 69 minutes when Macaulay Bonne chipped substitute goalkeeper Liam Priestley from a tight angle, but five minutes later we went ahead for the third time when Coulibaly steered home Darren McQueen’s left wing cross after making a near post run and getting just in front of his marker.

We looked set to retain the advantage until the final whistle, but three minutes from time Bonne popped up in the box to smash home his second of the game following a corner to restore parity once again.

Spurs XI:

Miles, Fredericks, Ogilvie, Gallifuoco, Carter-Vickers, Stewart, Michael-Percil, Bentaleb, Lancaster, Lameiras, Coulthirst.

U18 Premier League Tottenham Hotspur v Fulham Preview

John McDermott is looking forward to welcoming a handful of players back from injury as our Under-18s prepare for Saturday morning’s London derby against Fulham.

The lads are back in action at the Training Centre and will be determined to bounce back following last weekend’s defeat to Sunderland.

“We’ve had a good week with a good mix of training, while a few of the boys have been working with the development group,” said John, our Academy Manager.

“Hopefully we’ll benefit from that.

“I’m really pleased that we’ve got quite a few boys back from injury, so we go into tomorrow with quite a big squad. We have lots of players to choose from so we’re always optimistic.

“I’m sure Fulham will be a good side but hopefully tomorrow will be a good test for our players and a good test for both teams.”
