Tanguy Ndombele

When Sissoko was struggling in his early days, I noted, and commented on here to the standard frostbitten reception, that he looked better when he was playing more toward the middle where things got busier. The busier things got, the more his natural instincts and physical superiority took over and created advantages for us.

I see exactly the same thing here with Ndombele.

Left to create something out of a frantic, scrambled situation, the more his natural, streetballing instincts take over and deliver a winning solution. When we're getting pressed heavily, this is the sort of player, whether by Ndomele's incredible balance and control or Sissoko's physical ability to impose himself, that can get us out of jail onto the attack.

I just hope his upward trajectory continues, and that Mourinho doesn't throw him under the bus again if he's having a bad game or two. Keep up the hard work, young man!

This might be the only thread I can post in without going full on rant about football / life the universe so I’ll make do.

Again some of Tanguy’s touches when he came on were sublime + he was probing / quick enough with his passing.

Very happy with him further forward in front of PEH and Winks.

In game's like yesterday's when the opposition show zero attacking intent I think we could easily sacrifice Winks and play Ndombele and Lo Celso with Hjbjerg mopping up behind.

I agree with you. It might change though with Reguilon in for Davies - you might at that point want Winks and Hojgberg as I think you'd have the average position of full-back in advance of those two CMs when we have the ball

Once again he was like a breath of fresh air when he came on.
This lad has a pass in him and they hurt the opposition.
We don't need three defensive-minded midfielders, especially against the like of Saudi Sportswashing Machine.

Even Davies was quite a long way forward yesterday.

Jose is managing the squad atm during this unprecedented run of games - he was never going to start this one after completing his first 90 mins in many months just a few days ago.

Glad to see Ndombele is winning you over with his performances.

Performances many of us predicted would eventually come and you previously suggested was unlikely.

I agree and guilty as charged. I had not seen much from his Lyon days. @Bedfordspurs kept singing his praises and started to make me change my mind after watching him on video (Ndombele that is ;))and more closely recently (don't tell him it'll go to his head).
Let hope his form keeps going.

I think absolutely everybody could see that Ndombele has massive amounts of ability. There is a big problem though when a player clearly isn't trying. A player out of form is worth persevering with, a player who is clearly not putting in the effort is more difficult to judge. I am pleased that he is clearly working a lot harder on the pitch, something that Jose has done behind the scenes has obviously helped as last season it was pretty clear the player was doing all he could to give the manager an excuse not to pick him.

I think that is the long term plan. He is just trying to manage Ndombele and Lo Celso's fitness.

The good thing with that three is that there are lots of combinations we can play depending on the opposition or where we find ourself in a match.

Was impressed by him again, he looks like he is adapting to being here and its not surprising to see that it took a while to settle. He has bags of ability and is not afraid of getting physical with opposing players.

It’s not just his passes either. You can sense the opposition get a little more antsy when they know they’re facing someone on the ball (in the middle of the pitch) who can actually go forward and around them!
