Tanguy Ndombele

What scares me more than Ndombele's caution, however (which could well be warranted), is that we seem to be regressing from the days when 'aggressivity' and desire were the hallmarks of our team under Poch. Back then, we were hungry, passionate, fiery and committed - the team hummed with unity, purpose and a willingness to run through brick walls.

Now..well, we've seen the laxity of the team this season. Ndombele's fitness labors and reluctance to play. The petulance, the red cards, the bizarre self-destruction, constantly folding like a pack of cards against our Big Six rivals.

We're losing that meteorology that was all that separated us from some of the more ignominious, spineless sides of our past. If Mourinho feels that an iron rod will bring that meteorology back, so be it - because it is the most important weapon we have.
That mentality was gone over a year ago. It'll take more than a handful of matches to get it back.

I've been thinking this as well.

Let's hope we can pull those qualities together again.

Even if we have to pull it out our arses.

Great second half performance from Ndombele.

It adds to the mystery though.

Never limped about.
Never looked like he was blowing out his arse.
Looked to always be involved.
Didn't look shattered after 70 mins.
Aiming to drive us forward at nearly every opportunity.
Didn't for a moment look like he needed adjusting to this league, and the game was high paced and end to end.

It's his mental strength that needs building.
Footballing wise...he's got the lot.

Sure it’s the first prem game he has finished a 90 in

He played 92 minutes against Villa before being subbed off and the full 90 minutes against City. Then got his thigh Injury at which point Poch never seemed to trust him or his fitness fully.

I thought he was outstanding today. Took risks but played and kept the ball better than anyone on the pitch

Very impressive game from him and once he gets used to the pace of the game he will be a star. Dier, Eriksen ( if he signs on) and he will make a very impressive three going forward.

You just know that after that display most clubs will be telling their players to foul him at the earliest opportunity and not let him get rolling into their half. He's gonna get nibbled and gnawed at all season. Probably already knows this and we should be OK that he chose to hold off returning to play until he felt completely sound.

Agreed. The loss of this aptitude under Poch was what surprised me the most. However, even at its peak, it still never clinched the deal in the biggest games.

Still hopeful he can become our Vierra, Keane, Robson etc. This was my hope when we bought him. I was beginning to think he may be another dud rather than the Dude!
