There are three ways to get him in the team.
1. He works hard enough, consistently enough to play one of the wider CM roles like he did yesterday. Possible perhaps, but will probably take time, certainly against better teams.
2. He plays the deeper central role currently occupied by Winks. Less running required, but needs to be switched on and smart about covering space consistently. Same as the first one, possible, but will probably take time.
3. A change of system.
Yesterday was a good showing in terms of work rate and doing the defensive bit consistently. Not a top level team, but a good one the game was played at a good pace and intensity.
Time will tell, but he offers too many solutions to the problems we face for Nuno not to make efforts to get him in the team as long as Ndombele works hard in training and games.
A change of system currently feels unlikely. In Emerson we've signed another full back that I think fit the current system. And even with many changes, including Doherty in who clearly isn't suited to this system Nuno stuck with it.
