Be interesting to see if we’ll be little less gung-ho in the PL and maybe even park the bus occasionally next season, now that Postecoglou has seen that it is a winning way to go about things; at least when his first choice players aren’t available.

If he would mix it up the great but I have no real belief that he will and the elephant in the room is that when we have played more defensively we make no real chances. He's going to have adapt his football considerably to play more defensively and still have some sort of threat going forward because otherwise in the league we won't actually win many games play Ange's version of defensive football.

With the current squad members we have to select from I've been thinking that the old Poch 4231 when Dier was CM but with the instruction to drop between the CHs (Jan and toby,) that pushed them wider and the FBs up might just be a perfect system for TF.

It may require us to buy a player to play that Dier roll or I think probably Gray or Bentancur could easily fulfil the requirements (it's not that specialized tbh).

It allows Udogie and Porro to push forward but with support and cover.
Gives Romero a better angle to deliver his midfield cutting passes and reduces the risk of him going ball hunting. It also allows VDV to go on his 'Man United away' type runs.

TF got it wrong for the Bournemouth game

We didn't stay compact enough like we did for the Emirates Marketing Project game

Of course we were home and I guess he wanted us to be more on the front foot - but found out that many of our players don't have pace and power or even courage when facing more athletic opponents

Hopefully xavi is tough enough but at least he saw the game first hand so can anticipate the physicality of the EPL.

I expect TF to be more cautious and to see us have more "defence first" games while he rejigs another gameplan. Of note, the subs were good - spence right and udogie left nullified bournemouth's attack matching physicality and pace. same for odobert and bergvall who looked more daring getting physical. also i don't think TF will be happy with Richy spending time flopping around the ground.

Not sure he got it wrong but i do understand the point you are making. We were not good during the game for sure but i think we have to remember that its very early days for Frank and he has shown some good progress so far.

There is a old saying in football [ work in progress] and that is where we are at the moment. We have seen that he is willing to change things and until he has more then a handfull of games against teams in the Prem we have / should show some patience.

agree

maybe a better way to say it is that TF is building the team from the back. however he overestimated our attacking abilities when trying to bring the game to bournemouth.
