Which player would you like to see take over from Luka Modric?

I'm really interested to know how he does not do it? If he seems Hulk in the foyet and they catch each others eye, does he walk past and ignore? Does he shoot a quick glance and mouth silently 'not now!' while shaking his phone in Hulk's direction? I mean how does he do it without going against the laws of human decency? Never mind Uefa's tapping up regulations.

thumbs up and a quick how you doing mate, chat later ..here to see one of my players. hope you are well (all from a non insinuating position)...honestly? i dont know how...i would just be aware not to get caught in a potentially compromising position..i hope

its funny but sports in america have STRICT rules on these things and clubs / franchises get fined millions if the executives or coaches are caught interacting with potential assets / targets in what could be seen as an unethical manner. they have dates and periods you're allowed to open communications with players from the franchises officially...and even then clubs can launch an investigation into anything they may deem unethical at any time.

Modric isn't traveling to the US (*as of 1:30pm today)

Never said it was outrageous - simply queried what in that photo in his opinion constitutes misconduct?

He never said it was misconduct, he said that he would prefer Spurs managers not to be caught in such situations. There's a big difference.

Personally, I could give a f*ck, I'm just bored of every thread descending into an argument because people fail to listen to each other, accept that it is ok to disagree and leave it at that.

Because you think he should only speak to a former player in private, having a third party pick the player up and escort the player to and from the meeting place to make sure AVB and our coaches are never seen next to the player in public.

Without the exaggeration you throw in, yes.

No matter how innocent the intention, the manager should be aware not to be seen in a situation that could be readily misinterpreted/cause unwanted friction/bad press.

Even if he just wanted to meet up with Hulk to chat about old times and check on the family I would expect AVB to be discreet, knowing how things can appear.

I suppose we just have different views on how clubs would view this kind of thing.

If the player played for West Ham or some other joke club I would see the point though:)

Before we get a torrent of criticism towards a Sandro/Parker pairing: Take it to the tactics thread.

Interesting news on Tottenham TV deal in middle east coming up..
“@PeterClapp: Qatari/AlThani owned Al Jazeera in M East now broadcasting a THFC Club Channel (no.529) - no announcement, just happened...”
Royal Family owned station now broadcasting a THFC channel. Read into what you will

I do think there is an element of "people like AVB, people like Hulk, so whats the problem?"

My issue with it is much more fundamental than that and would apply to any manager at any club. I just think its a responsible thing to carry yourself a certain way in public when you are a manager. The intention isnt my concern at all, its the possible interpretation...

As Affy pointed out, had it been SAF chatting to Bale I imagine people wouldnt be quick to disregard it.

Although I do agree, if it was AVB and Carlton Cole I would be REALLY tinkled off LOL.

Mostly because SAF hasn't managed/coached bale before. It would be a different situation.
