Which player would you like to see take over from Luka Modric?

Doesn't matter, if its that bad he would go, cricket player Trescothick is an example, even down to RvP who doesn't fly.

You don't think he can play as a right midfielder/winger?.

I certainly wouldn't be comparing the two. As I said a good 10 pages back when news broke about Malaga financies, and using his appearance against Madrid, he's more Modric than Bale, Lennon, Navas or any other specialized winger.

I agree, not a specialized winger. I don't think that is a problem, especially in the 4-3-3ish formation we're likely to play under AVB. Might even be a good thing. Comparable to Mata perhaps?

come on Levy, can we have some good news to balance out the Ledley news????

So that's two big obsticles there then; Real Madrid (or whoever) not meeting our asking price, and also not signing-off until we have a deal agreed for a player to replace him.

I can't imagine Real Madrid would only have one target; yes they'd focus on acquiring Modric, but if - in their minds - we're tinkling around and delaying, then I'd expect them to move onto other options.

And the Moutinho deal (which is who you'd expect AVB would look to naturally 'replace' him with) is one which Levy would prefer to let run and run, in order to try and force Porto's hand.

6 weeks left until the end of the transfer window.

I'm seeing it increasingly possible that Modric will remain at Spurs next season.

My question is if (and that's a big if) Levy is screwing Madrid around, and Modric's asking price is too high, why don't Madrid go for Moutinho?

Whoscored.com seem to get positions players play in right most of the time would indicate that he is very versatile and can play multiple positions: http://www.whoscored.com/Players/4522/

Watch that video and it shows that he plays all over the place, you cannot catagorize that he plays one spot like that website shows.

His best position is left sided midfield, but can play across the middle, but like Lennon swapping to the left he can play right midfield.

It also doesn't mean he is a winger.

He would be an upgrade on any player we have in unlocking opposing defences, I'd prefer him to Modric, I hope we act quick as he would be perfect for them down the road.

in AVB's system Lennon as a winger is redundant. Has Lennon got enough goals and assists to play in the 3 behind the 1 striker in a 4231 or as part of a front 3 if we go 433.

Cazorla can play effectively in both those systems

I watched it a week ago or whenever it was first posted.

My point was about his versatility, I think we agree.

I haven't seen enough of him to disagree with you about what his best position is.

I want a player like him because it would give us real options and quality on the bench. Last season we looked a lot worse with just one injury to one of our attacking players, someone like Cazorla coming in could change that.

Surely AVB's system would adapt to the players available as opposed to the other way around?
