EMMANUEL ADEBAYOR will complete his £6m move to Tottenham this weekend after agreeing to take a wage cut at White Hart Lane.

But he will still become Spurs’ highest-paid star on a three-year deal worth around £100,000 a week, as revealed in Starsport earlier this week.

Spurs have agreed a fee with Emirates Marketing Project to sign the Togo hitman on a permanent basis after his successful loan spell in north London last season.

The Blues were desperate to offload Adebayor and get the £140,000-a-week striker off the club’s wage bill.

Adebayor joined the Blues from Arsenal for around £24m in 2009, but found himself frozen out when Roberto Mancini succeeded Mark Hughes as boss.

He fell down the pecking order and was loaned to Real Madrid in 2011 before joining Spurs last summer.

The 28-year-old was a big hit with fans after scoring 17 goals and new Spurs boss Andre Villas-Boas made no secret of his desire to keep him.

The Blues agreed to drop their asking price to force through a deal and it is understood Spurs will hand Adebayor a significant signing-on fee.

Villas-Boas has been told he can have the funds to strengthen his squad this summer so he can challenge for the title next season and Champions League qualification.

Adebayor will become Villas-Boas’ third signing after the arrival of Jan Vertonghen, 25, and Gylfi Sigurdsson, 22.

But Adebayor’s arrival casts fresh doubts over the future of England striker Jermain Defoe.

Defoe struggled for regular starts last campaign and will look for a move elsewhere if he fears the same will happen again next season.

I've been pretty damn thrilled in the last few pages to hear we're after Falcao.

Get him the fudge in please.

If Adebayor gives his money to charity, he should set up a charity and have the club pay it directly as a tax break

That was a great goal! Sent the defender the wrong way and hammered a shot past the keeper. That was the first World Cup to be broadcast here and it (especially that Brazil team) were a revelation.

Get him the fudge in please.

Not so simple, one they would be charities outside the UK, and if they all count as "official" charities would probably be questionable. In a lot of cases it's stuff like buying medicine/medical equipment/etc. for even government run institutions.

Not sure it's that he gives his money to charity, more that he sets aside however much to fund his own foundation. There must be tax rules relating to this, does it count as non-taxeable income?

So was he on £170k or £140k at City? Depends which artcle you read

And are we going to pay him £100k or £70k a week? again depending on what you read....

Do we still own Bassong? Assuming so, can't see anyone after him. Shame, when he got a run of games he actually looked fairly composed.

I remember goal v pool on his debut, immense header.

Toffees close on Pienaar deal

Midfielder set for return

The South African midfielder finished last season back at Goodison Park on loan, and he remains a hugely popular figure at the club.

Everton were reluctant sellers when he moved to Tottenham in 2011 and he was never able to command a regular first-team place under Harry Redknapp.

Now Everton have made their move to bring the 30-year-old back to the club on a permanent basis.

It is believed a deal of around £5million is close, with Everton hopeful of tying up the move next week.
