The was a stat from last season which showed RVP had directly contributed 24pts to Arsenals total, which was more than twice the amount of 2nd player in the PL. So in other words if you took out RVP and replaced him with the 2nd most influential player last season (Rooney or Aguero I think) then Arsenal would have finished 6th rather than 3rd.

I know it doesn't work like that in reality but he's obviously a massive loss for them assuming he does leave.

Yep and if you look at Wenger's recent record of signing CFs (Gervinho, Chamakh, Arshavin) you wouldnt be confident if you were a gooner than either Giroud or Podolski will be a successful replacement

The effect of him leaving will ripple into the transfer market too. Assuming he goes then then the message it sends to potential transfer targets is bad. It's already bad actually because of his online statement.

Hahhaa yeh horrendous

Top manager in, Siggy in, Caulker longterm deal, Bale extention and probably Verts in today or tomorrow

Worst week ever

It was an obvious dig at the time to get Spurs fans to phone in. I was pleased that nobody took the bait and he had to carry on winding Arsenal fans up instead.
Thats the way to do it. Dont rise to the bait and he'll have to find a new target

The Daily Arsenal! :)

Just out of interest why is this the best week? I have viewed it as someone in who needs to 'repair' his reputation, got in a midfielder who barely is excitin and gettin Caulker on a longer contract.

Am I excited? Not so much but I'm hopeful and lookin forward to the next seven weeks of the window which will determine my excitement level.

Post Euro 2012 excitement added to pre Premiership kick off excitement blended with the spices of players arriving & new manager so lots of intrigue about how we will perform..add in missing watching us play and that's why the excitement.

I'm glad we're out for Lloris - I'm not at all convinced by him. Butland sounds a much better medium-long term purchase, and Brad is still absolutely fine for next season if we loan Butland back out.

Amazed at the number of people even comparing Butland to Lloris and advocatign a big (for a keeper) money purchase of him. Right now there just isnt a comparison, and I bet most havent even seen Butland play.

Bonkers

That's a pretty ridiculous statement, Lloris is 25, has played over 150 times for Lyon, won goalkeeper of the year in France numerous times, has been nominated for best goalkeeper in Europe, is captain of his country ... but 19yr old Jack Butland whose career to date is 24 games for Cheltenham is the better option? :-s

You not watched him play, seen his goals, his set piece delivery, he is a very dynamic young midfielder who will only get better but isnt exciting, ok then...

We're out for him?? Since when? Last i heard we were puttin in a hefty fee of around 15 big ones for him. Hes a better choice than Butland as he has proven himself on far bigger stages and pressures.

I thought he only wanted to join 1 of the 5 biggest teams in Europe? Surely ourselves and Arsenal do not stand a chance?

Also, speaking of keepers - anyone know if McGregor at Rangers is any good? I believe he is out of contract after not moving over to NewCo. Wasnt long ago he was talked about as a £10m keeper (not that Ive seen him play)

I don't know if he has actually said that but if so then there's only really Milan as a viable option for him, although I think their president said recently they won't be spending much this summer, could be lying though obviously.
