Re: The summer transfer thread, Dembele pg 1277 #Levytime

So 51 million in, 38 million spent. 13 million positive.

Let's say we sell Rafa and get another 12. Dawson gets us another 8. That's 33 million positive.

Let's say we can raise another 7 from Bentley, Jenas, GDS, Gomes in any combination, taking us up to 40 positive.

So Moutinho for 25, Lloris for 11...do we apparently have money left over a wing forward such as Willian and a striker? Let's say we can get 10 for Defoe bringing us to 50 positive. 25, 11, gives us 14 million to play with. Maybe we can get Willian with that.

Maybe the new TV deal can give us the money needed to get Leandro, Llorente, Falcao...haha. I really do think a striker is vital to our season, if Ade gets injured I can see all our great midfield play going to waste as it did first half against West Brom.

In addition to this, if we sell the players listed and don't sign Moutinho, we'd pretty much have the money to tie up Lloris, Willian and a striker.

Re: The summer transfer thread, Dembele pg 1277 #Levytime

Fulham already caught that itch.
Yes but maybe Berba ousts one striker from Fulham? Anyway that isn't what I meant. Any old random itch from eastern Europe is more likely than llorente or hulk IMO

Re: The summer transfer thread, Dembele pg 1277 #Levytime

Come on man, I know Icelanders like a drink but that is crazy talk.

We will not get Hulk Messi Falcao
I doubt we will get llorente or kaka or del piero
I suspect we will get a random itch like Klasnic or Petric or Kaliniticicitic Etc but I can't keep pace with all the itches flooding into the game nowadays

haha

I did not say that it was realistic, was just talking about statements. Yes, Mautinho is the biggest name we could get. But an epic statement it is not..

I dont live in a dream world, we will NEVER get Hulk and I might also add that we will NEVER EVER get Damiao

We could get Remy, but have to fight off both Chelsea and City

I hope we will NEVER EVER get Del Piero since that would be the most stupid thing ever. Also hope we will never get Klasnic since he is a brick turd of a human being. Llorente is possible if he gets really desperate to leave on the final day. Hope we dont see ever see Kaka at Spurs since I think he is both overrated and also to much of a lightweight for the premiership.

Now, dont put words in my mouth again and I´ll try to be more clear next time :ross:

Re: Transfer poll

The following is guess work and nothing else...

Out

Kranjcar = 5.8m and 40k wage
Corluka = 5.5m and 35k wage
Bassong = 3.5m and 35k wage
Saha = free and 30k wage
Modric = 32m and 60k wage
King = Free and 40k wage
Pienaar = 4.5m and 50k wage
Nelsen = Free and 20k wage

Total = 51.3m in transfer fees and 310k p/w in wages

Ins

Sigurddson 8m and 55k wage
Vertonghen 10m and 45k wage
Adebayor 5m and 100k wage
Dembele 15m and 50k wage

Total = 38m in transfer fees and 250k p/w in wages.

As i said pure guess work based on reports and talent. Just trying to figure out how much we've still got in the kitty really.

I've heard that we paid 6.5m in signing-on bonuses to Ade along with a 10% sell-on to Dinamo Zagreb for Modric, and I suspect you're going to have to increase your wages there (for example Bale is now over 100kpw), but I think we've got another 15-20m or so to spend depending on outgoings. JJetset has pretty much said no striker is coming in till January (when we'll try again for Leandro *sigh*), and has suggested that Willian is now dead in the water, so my guess is Afellay on loan, plus a deadline day deal for either Moutinho (if Porto drop their 30m asking price) or Lloris.

If we can sell Jenas and loan out Hudd and VdV goes on deadline day (GHod I hope not), we may well have the extra funds needed for Moutinho. The problem is, none of Moutinho, Dembele, or Siggy can replace VdV - Siggy is a good goalscorer in an open game, but atm he doesn't have the necessary vision and intelligence when you consider we are going to face a lot of parked buses.

I actually don't think we're as desperate for Ade back-up (FOR NOW - I'm assuming Ade can last us till Jan though it's risky and I'm hoping for someone on loan) as the clever, creative playmaking types like Isco. Isco and Afellay/Dzagoev would do very nicely, if it's at all possible. A rotating Bale-VdV-Isco behind Ade, and in front of Dembele-Moutinho or Dembele-Sandro would be a pretty incredible force, with plenty of strength in depth. Delusional, but it's nice to dream. :lol:

Why both Moutinho and Dembele? Because they aren't really that similar imo, and both are a lot better than the likes of Jenas and Livermore. Dembele has a lot of qualities but he's no playmaker, whereas Moutinho will play more similarly to Modric - for example, he's a very quick, metronomic spreader of the ball and had a very high key-pass rate in the CL last season (equal to Modric's in the PL), while Dembele is more likely to win the ball, hang onto it and drive forward. Together I think they make a better pair against most teams than Dembele-Sandro, which would be powerful but too defensive and unimaginative in passing against parked buses. But being able to rotate among those three + Parker would be an immense midfield base.

Ha ha fair enough Ganter mate.

Let's hope today (thursday) brings new shiny players. It's boring when we only get one per day.

Today is the last day of sensible signings, as Friday is all last minute faxes and frenetic Chinese whispers

Re: The summer transfer thread, Dembele pg 1277 #Levytime

In relation to the sillyness of whatshisface on twitter, Fernandinho was mentioned in an article posted earlier today, no idea of credibility but quotes their CEO saying that:

'Mr Levy, the Chairman of Tottenham Hotspur FC, personally flew to Donetsk to negotiate over Willian. But his latest offer was 15 million euros, which we, of course, did not accept. Levy, by the way, hinted that besides Willian, Villas-Boas was interested in Douglas Costa and Fernandinho, but he mentioned that just casually, without any specifics. As for the alleged interest expressed by Juventus in Luiz Adriano, I learned about it, just like you did, on the Internet.'

just hope that we will shut up with "we almost signed..."

Lloris, a cover for the wings (Affallay, Willian) and a striker (whoever that is young and is available) would suit me very well

Mautinho on top of that, would cream in my pants but highly unlikely. Never know with Levy though, I´m thinking we will sign someone that we have never been linked with

кεεℓу ‏@jaffacakes
@jetsetyid A well connected Portuguese journo is saying Moutinho to Spurs within the next 24 hours. Any truth?

The original JJetset ‏@jetsetyid
@jaffacakes I'm sure he would love it but unless Porto take a massive haircut it will not happen.

Sums that jetset prick up.
Why would Pedro Pinto love it? Ever listen to him and you'd find out he is annoyed how the Portuguese League can't retain Portuguese players. He laments the amount of South Americans in the Portuguese League and the effect it has on the Portuguese national team.
jetset thinks the guy will be delighted because he called a transfer right. Pinto wouldnt give a brick either way. He's not in the rumour whoring business and has a proper job. He's doesn't get a hard on by getting attention on twitter. I've no doubt Pinto hopes Porto keep Moutinho.

Does he not mean sure Moutinho would love it?

Re: The summer transfer thread, Dembele pg 1277 #Levytime

I have to say, I'm worried about us losing our English/British spine.

I loved the days when a big Europena match was like a prelude to the two countries where the clubs were from meeting; e.g. Man Utd Vs Juve in the CL in autumn 97 was like a prelude to England vs Italy in the World cup qualifier that autumn.

I always loved it when 5/6 of the Spurs starting line-up was English. Guess this was always going to be harder hen we ost King and now seemingly Dawson.

Dare I say it, even the Goons might be able to consistently field more English players when Jack W gets off the crack...shame...

I actually quite agree with you, but the trouble is England as a footballing nation is simply going through a down period. We all laughed at Kenny Dalglish for buying Henderson, Downing, Adam (not English, but you get it), Carroll, but unfortunately that is the price of British talent. I will always have an extra soft spot for Defoe, Lennon, Dawson, Huddlestone, etc, but my ultimate goal is for Spurs to be the best they can be. Santi Cazorla costs as much as Steven fudging Fletcher. That is ridiculous, but it's the way it is. Would you rather have Jarvis for 10 million or Siggurdson for 8. I'd love to see us take a punt on one of the young english lads from the Championship (Redmond, Zaha, etc), and I'd love to see the likes of Rose, Caulker, Townsend, Kane, Carroll come through, but aside from Caulker, Livermore, and posssssibly Carroll, I can't quite see it happening. Besides, we still have a good amount of UK-raised footballers, who are and will be important members of the squad in Bale, Lennon, Walker, Defoe (think he has a part to play), Parker, Naughton, and possibly Dawson. I can live with that.
