no short memory and no lack of respect IMO. Dawson is not good enough for a top 4 team, pretty simple. He was good for us when we were midtable, 8th 7th. But to go higher we need to aim higher. Hence why not 1 single bid has come in for him from any of the top 4 team.

Some serious rose tinted glasses from some spurs fans...

Fergie has tried to turn him into a DM, but from people who's followed his career I've heard he might be better suited further forward.

Alan smith played as a striker for about 15% of his career, such a waste of decent CF talent. Everyone just remembers him as a CM clogger, but he was so much more than that in his Leeds days (even playing RM for them the season they went down) and very early Utd days before Fergie pushed him to DCM. He was a victim of his own work ethic.

Incredible how many people say that Dawson is our best defender! :O

Dawson is too slow, misses challenges and then throws himself in to try and salvage the situation but in missing he will often leave himself completely vulnerable with no cover. I don't think he's an intelligent defender, more of a blood and thunder defender that will get good figures for blocks but this certainly doesn't make him our best defender!
