Classic example of why you shouldn't pay too much attention to YouTube. He's a great finisher but not ready for first team football, poor decision making seems to be a slight issue atm.

I'm not at all comparing him to Rooney but Rooney's decision making was poor when he broke into Evertons side.

Yup, if they have the raw ingredients they should be given the chance. Certainly hope this is the case with Townsend and maybe Couli next season. There's only one way they're going to learn.....
 
How many times have all these people seen coulibaly play? Admittedly I've only seen him once against pool in the nextgen personally thought he was miles off the first team
 
If VDV is off I seriously hope we are going to be adding quality. I've been out all day and just noticed AVB's comments today re signings, out of interest does anyone believe we are not targeting another striker?

Don't disagree about Rooney, but he could already exert himself on the opposition as he was so tenacious. Very rare player despite everything that has gone on with him last few years. I'm not saying I'm not excited, just that calling for his inclusion is a bit previous. Maybe pull him out for CC exposure.
 
So what would be your thoughts if we do not get rid of Jenas or Bentley whether it be loan or perm this window?

Don't believe it for one second. Just because a manager says it to the press, does not mean it's true!

I don't think anyone will take them off us, we'll have to run their contracts down or give them free transfer I reckon.

My view exactly, just wondered what others are thinking because there is clearly a lot of activity happening and some of it not what anyone might have expected. I would not be surprised if VDV goes, but am getting nervous about the extent of some of the changes. I am hopeful Levy will spring some quality incomings.

exactly. Anything we get from now is a bonus. Realistically, we'd have to do a deal similar to the Ade deal which Man C did ie subsidise their wages, or alternatively let them walk their contracts are up

Aside from which the market has changed dramatically, in cases it really does take that sort of money to get certain players you need.

I believe in the case of receiving Modric money we could well go for a £25m player

I have to agree with AdamB on this. If anyone thinks that we are going to sign a top quality player for £20plus million they are in cloud cookoo land.

Much as I would love it to be true. These guys just wouldnt come to us anyway - we dont pay top dollar, we dont have CL and we dont pay top wages. Why would a top player join us? Would you?
