Last tweet for today..... Ask yourself if you have Ade why do you need another very similar target man/beanpole?

Doh!

That is a rather simple question mate. It seems AVB may be playing just one striker up front, now considering we have 37 more league games, FA Cup games, League Cup games and Europa Cup games methinks it would be unreasonable to expect Ade to start them all.

And what happens if he gets suspended, injured be for a single week or six weeks and if he away for the African Nations Cup, what happens then.

Aguero off injured, so no doubt Emirates Marketing Project will now go for one of our targets !!!!

Not sure if they will plug the plug on Adebayor to us, or all of a sudden speed up the sale to free his wages to allow a new signing.
Wonder if they will target Llorente now?

I think Adebayor's days as a City player are long gone, so I'd say the latter. Mancini has being getting irritated with Marwood about transfers so this might be the nudge.

Or they could just use Tevez or that other £30m-odd striker they've got, Dzeko. Or Balotelli.

Surely ONE injury doesn't necessitate buying another player. Do we even what or how bad the injury is?

Thats I have always said - putting all your eggs in one basket in a striker is asking for trouble. Just because Ade didnt get injured and survived playing all the games last season does not mean it will happen this season.

We need two strikers and keep Defoe. Defoe can interchange with Lennon on the right - my view. Also you need a bit of a different tactic every now and again. We cant continue to play 4231 every game or 433 every game.

Owen wouldn't be a Levy kind of signing.

A Harry signing, yes. But not Levy.

It would be a Harry signing at 11.59pm on 31st August when Levy tells him that every target either cost too much or wages too high.

Either lumbered with one striker in Defoe or bring in a stop gap.

Modric in attendance at Real Madrid v Valencia game. Been advised his appearance can help force through his transfer.

Andre Mitrovski ‏@AaronLennon10

Modric in the stands watching Madrid - Valencia?

How on earth would his appearance in the stands at a Madrid game "help force through his transfer"?

Load of gonads.

Last time that happened, Harry opened his present and it had Rafa Van Der Vaart inside!

Because Levy has no history of signing older players on free transfers? Just because our fans make unfounded assumptions, doesn't mean they are right. The free transfers we've made have all made financial sense, so Levy would have been more than happy with them. Saha and Nelson, for example, would have been ideal Levy transfers, as they were stop gaps on short term deals and given the clubs they joined us from we can assume relatively low wages. They cost us very little and meant we didn't have spend money in the Jan window, when little is on offer and when he was obviously planning a change of manager in the summer. So they were clearly hugely "Levy" signings and made a lot of sense. Other than that we signed Gallas and Friedal, who again fit in perfectly with the profile of player Levy likes to sign.

It's about math and not simply a question on age. As long as the a players depreciation and wages and below a certain figure, they fit into the transfer policy. Levy is not adverse to signing older players, but on the right terms and hence he likes free transfers, as they don't depreciate in value. What he hates to do is pay a decent fee for an older player. Parker is absolutely an example of a signing Levy wouldn't have liked to make. But if AVB wanted Owen and he'd be on a reasonable wage, then Levy would have no problem at all. The "Harry" signing argument was just another example of our fans misunderstanding things and assuming they were right as it was popular opinion.
