I couldnt agree more. Unfortunately, i think tonight may be the last time i sit down to watch or go to Spurs in a very long time. If we are going to field weakened teams in the biggest games we play then following this club isnt for me. Ive got better things to do with my time than to watch a half arsed effort. Im sure Poch has his reasons but id rather have given it everything tonight and lost 6-0 sat that clueless brick, jack of all trades master of fudge all, that was on show tonight. I was massively fudged off when he did the same thing in the second half of last season. He would send out 70/80% strength teams every week to try and win everything rather than 100% teams on the games he needed to win and 60/70% of the games that didnt really matter.
I reckon he didn't try to win everything. He sacrificed the Carling as he did this year and the Europa to an extent. I can understand he is trying to keep everyone involved and blood some younger players, hence we need to be in competitions but he knows that in keeping everyone involved we are likely to lose. It is something you have to accept in order to bring on players like Winks, Onomah, Ward-Prowse etc.
The problem today was that this was not the League Cup, EL Cup or even the FA Cup, but the biggest competition in Europe.
He should now on play the best team available to him to win the match, if some one is struggling then fine they don't play, but they should not be on the bench either. Cut rotation, players can rest when they are injured. Kane seems to have benefited. Monaco fielded a full strength team, as do Real, Barca and others why don't we?
It is the old adage: "One game at a time".
I think he got it all wrong today, we needed fit players and with pace not those struggling, note Alli's half hearted attempt to track on their second goal. The diamond or 4-3-2-1 where both wrong as it left their full backs unattended, a blind man could have seen we needed to double on the wings.
The encouraging thing is he is trying different formats, as some of us accused him of being tactically rigid with 4-2-3-1. So he is bound to get it wrong sometime, we can't have it all ways.
