Son Heung-Min

Take a deep breath and try not to be a prick for a couple of days.

Son is a bit like Salah and Ronaldo in that he never drinks/ parties/ womanizes, his body is a temple, he could play for years yet.

He's been playing with an injury. He still has it.
2 whole seasons with an injury?

I think the truth is he has physically declined a bit. He might well have been carrying an injury for a period but he's not been injured for the entirely of the last two seasons where it's been clear that he is a bit finished physically.

Hasn’t he come out a few times saying he has been playing with an injury? I’m sure the last 3 years he has had an injury.

It all sounds like he is off in August after the pre season tours doesn't it? Feels like we are planning a big shake up this summer. Son, Richie, Bissouma, maybe Romero, Vicario etc.

Have you seen/read anything about Richarlison or Bissouma?
Bissouma was linked with Fenerbache and Saudi recently and there was talk of listening to offers for Richie too and him being prepared to leave to kick-start his career (Although in terms of links there has only been Everton again). No one knows for sure though hey, but there was also some journo saying we are prepared to spend big this summer and would likely listen to offers for several players to balance it out.

Let's see where we are in a months time. Im sure quite a few will be gone.

Why would it drive anyone crazy? Like the majority of stats its pretty meaningless without context, like the Spurs hadn't won a game with Bale in the team for GHod knows how long one.

The fact is he has been on the decline for two seasons and this season especially has been a shadow of himself. No shame in it, happens to everyone and he will go down a legend who gave his best years to Spurs churning out exceptional numbers and is the guy who lifted our first European trophy in 40 odd years....

I would like to see what he could do with a different manager playing to his strengths rather than his weaknesses before writing him off.

It could be that age has caught up with him. Or it could be that Ange’s system didn’t suit him at all.

He has lost a yard of pace, it's nothing to do with system - when he was one on one with a player he never had real ball skills but he had either the pace or sharpness to find half a yard and get the better of a player. Whenever he is one on one now he can't do that and either loses the ball or plays a safe pass.

It's not to say he couldn't 'do a job' for some minutes off the bench etc but with the younger players coming through, and this being a last chance of getting a fee and off the back of what he's just achieved with the EL it's the best time to say thank you and goodbye.....

I agree with all that. But equally just having his presence, experience, leadership and standards around could be really key to helping the new manager settle in. Be a Naybet to Tel, Odobert and Moore's King.

I possibly wouldnt name him in the CL squad though with our numbers issue

people don't watch full games thats why. if they did they would have seen the other team putting an extra man around son's area of responsibility and freeing up space elsewhere

A legend, but if he remains at the club he won't be starting games, possibly early rounds of the FA and Watney Cups.

I think what I noticed the most was when Sonny was on a less intense schedule. When he could sit out a game or we only had one game in that week, he just looked 20% more energetic.

If you look at Son's injury history last season you see the following

24/25 Foot injury Apr 14, 2025 May 9, 2025 26 days Tottenham Hotspur. 6 games
24/25 Knock Apr 11, 2025 Apr 14, 2025 4 days Tottenham Hotspur. 1 game
24/25 Thigh problems Oct 21, 2024 Nov 2, 2024 13 days Tottenham Hotspur. 3 games
24/25 Hamstring injury Sep 26, 2024 Oct 19, 2024 24 days Tottenham HotspurSouth Korea. 7 games

When you think that our toughest period for the entire club was Dec-Feb, these were the months where Sonny put in his biggest shift. We also lost Richi late August and obviously Odobert at the very start of the campaign. Even Moore was missing in the middle of the season.

I wouldn't underestimate the impact that Tel can have on helping Son to get through a season much fresher. I think we may now be at a stage where they are very interchangeable and I'm expecting big debates about which one should get the nod this season.

Purely speculative on my part but I think last season the plan wasn’t to start Son twice a week, but due to injuries it happened that way. In an ideal scenario his minutes would’ve been managed better.

If he stays or if he goes I’m happy for him to decide. He’s a club legend in my eyes. If his last ever appearance for us was lifting the cup then so be it. Nice one Sonny!
