Son Heung-Min

The original post was comparing Son to Foden on only those stats. Foden is streets ahead of Son in every department outside those stats.
Son contributes next to nothing if he isn't scoring while Foden runs games.

If we want to be competing at the top Son can't be a regular starter for us next season. He's been an amazing player for us but every player reaches a point where they start regressing and Son has reached that point already.

Must admit I didn’t read the part about Foden. Son is the best finisher in the league IMO but overall play he’s miles behind Foden I agree. Yeah I’m cool with him having a slightly diminished role next season provided we bring in new players. I’d say the same for Richarlison as well tbh. If we want to compete for the top honours I don’t think he’s the CF to take us there. Useful squad player for sure. Similar views on Johnson but he needs a bit more time.

He really wasn’t
He was just banging in goals
Not a bad focus! But then suddenly he became a rounded player under mourinho. He’s now the complete player. With the exception of Keeper - which he still tried! - he could be world class anywhere on the pitch.

Anyone think we might sell him? I wouldn’t be completely surprised, although his global profile - and the money he subsequently brings into the club shop - might mean Daniel can’t bear to let him go.

Zero chance, on merit

The people talking about Foden being streets ahead (on a single season performance in a side where he isn't the player trying to be marked out of the game), miss Haaland, there is a player that adds nothing to game "except goals" (yes, it is a stupid statement).

In a side minus Kane, we absolutely can't give up 25+ goal involvements a season, even if that player is declining slightly or isn't as involved in every game (Sheffield game showed him pulling strings)

Not for another year at least i think.

I suspect if we get a number 9 such that he doesn't have to play in the middle and another creative type in midfield to pass into the spaces he likes to operate and he still stinks the place out somewhat, then maybe next year the club might be open to offers...

I don't think we will, but I think we should. His pace has diminished, he's not the CF we need and don't think he's good enough at LW at least as a consistent starter. But don't believe we would get the money offered that makes it worth our while selling considering all the money and exposure he brings into the club....

No chance
I’m one who thinks we should though
His technical side isn’t good IMO to play CF

but… hai last few efforts playing on the left has been good
He did have a great game yesterday

I didn’t think there was any chance, but Ange’s comments about big change and shaking things up got me thinking.

I was impressed with Son's pace and stamina this year, I wouldn't criticise him for that.
I would criticise a lot of other things, but not that.
He stepped up when all around him lay injured.

I still think he may be injured
We will find out soon

He’s still better than richarlison and any other forward we have at the moment. I think the bar is pretty low at the moment when it comes to our front line. I’d keep him for at least another year. I think getting rid of him after getting 17 league goals without a ready made replacement would be unwise personally. We’d probably get more money for richarlison too given his age.

Well it's the last year of his contract so we have a decision to make.

Richi suits Ange ball better, you can see that by the way he's constantly on the end of the same type of forward move to slot it into the net. In the Premier League Richie's minutes per goal is 136, which is pretty impressive considering his stop start season - Sons minutes per goal is 173. Richie's issue this season was his fitness, he would have easily scored more than Son had he stayed fit. Staying fit however is an important aspect, so it remains to be seen if he can do that over a season. I know you don't rate Richi as good enough to be starting, but I think he will score a bucketful if he remained fit for most of the season. The question is, can he....
