Glenda's Legs

Why do that do that? It can't be that hard with today's technology to vote online/on an app and leave it until the end of the season!?
I had a recollection that each club captain collects votes from the squad and then sends in the result. I guess this way the PL are guaranteed a high level of voting. If left to players to respond to an email with a link to a voting site I bet at least half just wouldn't bother.
It seems that does still happen, but there's also a public vote element and a panel of "experts" to pick the winner from the shortlist.
"a panel of experts (see below) including Premier League legends such as Alan Shearer and Jamie Carragher cast their votes on shortlists
the Premier League also asks the nominees' peers to contribute, with club captains casting votes for a winner.
The public have the chance to play a role, too, helping to decide the winners in the categories of player, manager and goal.
The public's votes cast in each category will represent 10 per cent of the total votes and will be combined with those of the panel (and captains, for the player award)."
