Son Heung-Min

I’ve just checked using the ever reliable Google translate, and Korean for custard is said as ‘custarday’. I think that means a whole day of custard. Maybe that’s Son’s reward when he scores. No wonder he keeps scoring.

The word for custard is
커스터드

At least according to Google translate it is.
Yeah, as if Levy would agree to contractual custard.

Heung-Min Son has been called up to the South Korea squad for the AFC Asian Cup in January 2019.

The tournament takes place in United Arab Emirates and is contested between 24 nations from across Asia from 5 January until 1 February.

The Taegeuk Warriors have been drawn in Group C for the competition alongside China, Phillipines and Kyrgyz Republic and Sonny will join up with the squad following our match against Manchester United on Sunday 13 January, in time for their final group match against China.

After an opening goal against Arsenal, winning Goal of the Month, and being called up for his International squad, he definitely deserves a Custard Day

this was all decided in the summer - this is their Euros and we have to let him go (Fifa comp) , the Asian games we decided to let him go (we didn't have to ) in the hope that he won and he removes the need for national service. I think we negotiated to not go to the last internationals and he goes to them later than he is supposed to due to letting him play in the Asian games.

Still, he could always have an injury that clears up after the tournament has started.

Really? Whose rules are they?
FIFA's

FIFA’s Regulations on the Status and Transfer of Players (“the Regulations”) and specifically within Articles 3-6 of Annex 1 of the “Release of Players to Association Teams”. The general rule is that “every player registered with a club is obliged to respond affirmatively when called up by the association he is eligible to represent on the basis of his nationality to play for one of its representative teams” (Article 3). A player is only obliged to refuse the call up if they are ill or injured and said illness or injury has been approved by their national association (Article 4). The sanctions for a player refusing a call up for any other reason include their preclusion from playing for their domestic team for the duration of their national team’s inclusion in the tournament, plus an extra five days (Article 5). Prior to an amendment of Annex 1 on 1 June 2016, sanctions also included points deductions and the forfeiture of matches in cup competitions in which the player played, whilst his national team was participating in the tournament. However any additional sanctions to those stipulated in Article 5 of Annex 1 are now “to be decided by the FIFA Disciplinary Committee based on the FIFA Disciplinary Code” (Article 6), pursuant to an amendment to Annex 1 in June 2016. This potentially gives the Committee a wider range of sanctions to choose from.

I really thought we'd be past all that nonsense now he doesn't have to play soldiers.
This one is a proper football tournament like our Euros, its a Fifa tournament - if he wins this it meant nothing towards his soldier status.
The one in the summer is nothing football tournament like the commonwealth games, but if he won it it meant he doesn't have to soldier, this is why we let him go. I cant see him going to the Asian games again.

Deal struck with his national side and his team Tottenham Hotspur that will see him miss games against Philippines and Kyrgyzstan in January

That's news to me. It seems as if it's fairly simple to get around though - I've seen plenty of players skip international duty because their club is more important.

It's not a proper tournament, it's an international tournament. The proper tournament is the one he's missing whilst off on a jolly with SK.

If FIFA are so keen on players turning up to these tournaments, why don't they force them to be held when the matches that matter aren't being played?
