'we' are not brick at corners, Eriksen is.Joking aside though, those stats are absolutely damning when compared with all of Europe.
We are brick at corners. Fact. Proven statistical fact.
Eriksen needs to be taken off them if he stays. And in reality, we’d be better shifting to short corners - it would give us an instant circa 4X improvement based on some rough fag packet maths.
Interesting the article criticises our new stadium for not helping out corner takers....
However if the average corner conversion is only 3% overall now - but Tottenham as a team only get 40% past the first man, and Eriksen individually is the worst taker in Europe with a 34% success rate at clearing the 1st man - then having limited help to corner takers is a massive advantage for us..... Defensively!!! Its done to negate the opposition!
Well, as Eriksen takes a lot of our corners and he does play for/represent us, I don’t feel my statement was inaccurate!'we' are not brick at corners, Eriksen is.
Remember last season the season before when lamela was taking corners and his assists were being written off because some of them came from corners?
In fact if we hadn't taken Eriksen off corners for the last half dozen or so games I bet our figures would have been the worst in the league.
Yes. I reviewed each calculation in depth.Feels right but have the stats been validated?

Also the stats on the slide show what his average (worst player) is as well as what the team as a whole is (2nd worse, 1% off top) - and there is a difference meaning that Eriksen doesn’t take all our corners. And they are still brick when he doesn’t.
But, hey, facts, stats, numbers... pah!
They look fine to me.We all know Eriksen tries to fire corners in at 7' high but often hits 6' so they are cleared. No surprise.
0.00001% of corners that hit the first man, go in.
But goals are very rare in football. Does anyone know the real numbers here:
2% of short corners result in a goal
2% of long corners to the penalty spot result in a goal
2% of long shots result in a goal
2% of through balls result in a goal
2% of crosses result in a goal
2% of dribbles result in a goal
2% of 1-2s on the edge of the box result in a goal
All good my friend.Sorry, did I come across as looking for an argument, I didn't mean to.
I was just pointing out that Eriksens figures squew our results.
Just been watching a vid of our 67 PL goals last season and counted seven that came from corners. To add my two penneth worth
All the stats about corners being infective just highlight to me that it an opportunity for us to get better at them
England showed the threat is ether in the WC and so did Ajax/Holland
Take better corners and have a plan and they will be more effective

So a tad over 10% - none too shabby tbf.
I think that it is quite likely that we score more from corners this season than last. The average for the league is 7 goals from corners a season. We scored 7 in 2016/17 and 10 in 2015/16 (the second highest that season). This would fit with the evidence that differences between clubs are largely down to a variation on a range rather than more time spent on corners seeing a return.
Staggered to see on MOTD that Liverpool have scored 40 set piece goals since August 18 and we are nowhere to be seen on the list. It's not as if we players of short stature because I would think off hand that we probably have taller players. So I guess it's all about preparation and training...

It doesn't surprise me at all. Liverpool have left no stone unturned in their quest for success. They even have a specialist throw-in coach ffs ! And how many goals come from throw-ins? Off the top of my head, I bet less than corners. But they nevertheless believe it is worth practicing throw-ins in their supposedly "finite" training time.
Mourinho said:"How many countries can you think of where a corner kick is treated with the same applause as a goal? One. It only happens in England. This is the only place where a corner kick is as good as a goal for the fans. And what is the best way to get a corner? Just kicking the ball into the box and pressing the second ball."
