Savinho

ITK's are talking about it as well. Sounds like its going to happen. I hope we dont pay more than £40m
Could go either way. He seems to want out, didn't get played very much, and the new man won't be desperate to keep him if a sale is being discussed with us.
But he signed a new contract a year ago so they can stick to a fairly high figure.

Be happy to have a deal that’s heavily based on performance add ons. If he gets back in the Brazil squad. If he plays a high percentage of our games and we get back in to the UCL.

As in Initial £35M w/ £25M add ons vs £45M all in.

Talk is it's quite a bit higher than that ...

"City are looking for wingers as they close the sale of Savinho to Tottenham for around £65million."

"Spurs will sign Savinho but want two more forward options and are alert to opportunities in the market."

We're bidding against ourselves. 65m seems way too much. Exciting signing though and good tactical fit if he plays on left
Yeah but we are now acting like a proper football club, the opposite is exactly how Levy operated, twiddle our collective thumbs until the least week of August then either sign him on deadline day having knocked a few million off the asking price and saved on wages or completely miss out.

We could string this out and probably get a deal done on September 1st for £50M. Same as JPVH we could have shaved 20% of the fee by waiting. That's what Levy would have done and we end up missing out one of them as its left to late. Or there is an injury at City/Brighton which means they cannot sell or a rival clubs main target falls through and they move on to their 2nd choice which is Savinho or JPVH.

So yes you potentially save £25M by waiting. But you also put getting your key targets at risk and you do not have them for an extended period during pre season. How much more of an effective player would Xavi Simons have been if he has signed on July 15?
