Actually I don’t think I have ever moaned about is not making big signings. Which is why I feel a bit unsure about breaching that £100m mark. But if he is exactly what we need and that’s the fee, then that’s all good. It just feels like a huge sum.

Literally the majority of our fan base, the Levy out phalanx who moan that we never get the big money signings and don't spend the cash etc. I'm sure if you search enough you will see plenty on here asking why the club spend £100m on 3 players rather than spending it on just 1 like the bigger teams do.

Virtually everytime we didn't sign a player the ITK and reliable social media vampires said we were in for there was the usual "Levy being cheap" when the "transfer" failed from many posters.
All the time I've been on this site the one constant is we should not fanny about and pay the asking price.

Beauty of opinions I guess. Clearly RDZ rates him highly and Scholes called him the best midfielder in the league earlier in the season so hopefully we get to see up close whether he's worth it or not....

Some may not agree but it is but it occurred everytime we allegedly fail to sign a player it was rumoured the manager wanted, that seemed constant to me.

£100m just seems like huge amount of money. I’m far from any kind of expert here as I just don’t have that much knowledge of players outside of Tottenham but I don’t know, that feels like a mega chunk of money for a very good (but not spectacular?) player.
I suppose if he’s key to RDZ’s plans then it becomes a matter of value vs cost, but it feels like a big and expensive gamble to me.

He's significantly better than what we have currently, now whether that is worth £100m is up for debate. I do believe if we were to scout well abroad we could find a player that offers similar attributes for significantly less but there is more risk involved with making a transfer like that and RDZ seems more aligned with the idea of getting us up and running quickly.
