Yep, perhaps Leicester said Maddison was 60 and we said Winks was 25 and they said don't be silly and they said OK 55 and we said OK 20 and they said whaaaaaat we're not paying that, that is a difference of 35 and we said OK let's put some options in and close the gap to 30.
And then we said by the way, you have to give Norwich a cut of whatever you get, so let's call the fees 40 and 10 so it is 30 difference and Norwich gets less...and a few bits of dosh based on achievements and not being crocked etc. Makes sense to me.

Excellent! Chuck in a 10m add on for appearances / promotion/ CL and if we both have good seasons we still net 0 but the fees look higher which makes fans happy but not the accountants!

Interesting theory but there is no way in hell Winks is worth 25m to anyone. There is a reason he's going to a Championship side after all.

I think the real interesting piece is

- Two players, one not even in squad, one with limited playing time from bench both replaced with likely 1st team starters

Potentially 4 out as you can count Lucas, Winks, Danjuma & Lenglet

Yes, that's key. If we give him a new deal then he's never leaving til he retires. If he has to be our 4th choice CB next year its not the end of the world....just dont make things worse by extending it by 3-4 years
 
Not that we ever really get to know the true figures, but it will be interesting to see if we let players go for reasonable offers to get them of the books, or we still hold out for good money?

And as this is GG can we change the name of the thread and autocorrect to Sails rather than Sales

This is where I will get angry. He can stay fight for his place if he wishes and by all means earn himself a new contract but fudge just giving him one now. His stint as a CB has been a failure and we shouldn't be rewarding failure.

Id make Skipp club captain, with maybe Bentacur deputy. Im not sure any of the next generation after Lloris/Kane/Dier particularly stand out in that department

Dele for effectively free, Lucas for free (we had option to pickup 1 year extension, Aurier & Doherty cancelled contracts, rumour is we will do Lloris a solid, I think we got over the have to get the most out of value brick a while ago.

Especially as a lot of these players are in the last year to 18 months of contract.
