Lennon was a bums-off-seats player at a time when we were becoming a solid upper-mid-table side. Wasn't it Routledge who was meant to be the first choice RW, but he got injured and Lennon took his chance? You simply cannot beat pace like that, and his ball skills were always under-rated. Sadly, Lennon faded, losing some of his explosive pace as the Big 4 became a Big 6. But it was also the time when playing with actual wingers and two strikers became the exception rather than the norm. I'm not sure there'd be a place in the side for him at the moment, for example.
