Ryan Mason

Question being, if Mason was to get the job, how many of you would be disappointed?

It would seem like a wage saving exercise in the sense of not having to hire a well reputed manager but ultimately could be a good way to take pressure off the players - If we hire a Nagelsman there'll be expectations to go places but if we take on Mason most will write us off totally, and in an odd way, perhaps that could work in our favour?

Mason has stopped the bleeding but the hypothetical patient had already flatlined. How it'd be for him if it's at the start of a season with hope rather than a total write off is another question.

I would not want him as FT gaffer but he has proven that he knows his onions as this is his second stint equipping himself well. What I like is how, ok under less pressure, that Conte was not 100% right in his outburst as there are others that can play, other ways of playing and you can pick up points. He is a good lad, long may he stay in a job with us somewhere I say

If we sign Mason out would be a sign of no ambition. I would be disappointed. He will be nothing but a puppet for levy.

I would prefer him to go away learn the trade and come back with such a reputation that he would be while heartedly backed by the board and the fans.

Being disappointed is fair enough, but what evidence is there that he would be a puppet for Levy? He seems very much his own man with his own opinions.
There's also going to be Munn and the DoF between Levy and the manager, do you really think they'd stand for a Levy "puppet"?
Sounds more like anti-Levy bias to suggest that he would be a puppet than anything factual.

Not sure disappointed is the right word but I think it would be an unnecessary gamble which would only be taken for sentimental reasons rather than a logically thought through decision.

I think that the probability that Levy goes in that direction is very small too

I don’t think it’s any more of a gamble as anyone.

Sounds like a young man wouldn't know how to deal with a chairman until he has had experience elsewhere as a manager.

Not surprising really when it comes to you, you can't have any post about levy.

What do you actualy know about Mason to suggest that he is his own man? Just stupid bias.

To me it is more of a gamble as he's achieved less than Nagelsmann, Slot etc and fewer miles under the belt

Its tough for a young manager to get a shot at a top job early in their career, but equally rationale that a Chairman wouldnt hand the reins to someone very inexperienced

I think that if we’re dismissing who we really wanted, Nagelsmann for instance, to hire Mason I’d be dissapointed. But I’d rather have Mason than taking a gamble on our 5th, 6th, 7th choice.

It sounds from reports that there's a reasonable probability of getting Nagelsmann, and there were also the positive comments a couple weeks ago from Slot who seems to be high on our list (again, assuming reports are accurate). You have to hope from that that we dont end up in another Nuno type situation!

What evidence do you have that he isn't? I mean you can't really pull someone up on bias when you have nothing factual to support your view.

Why would Levy want a puppet as a manager? Appointing Mourinho & Conte wouldn't exactly suggest that is what he's after, would it?

In this case Mason is a Levy man, the same way Pleat was ... difference is levy wanted both Conte and Mourinho.
