Yeah I thought he was quite good from the off. He made quite a difference when he joined in January, maybe a bit subtle but it was there. Without him I don't think we finish top 4 last season.

Kulu obviously had the more obvious contributions but without the midfield you don't have a team.

Definitely agree.

Thought he was really good at his best when last season. But more anonymous in too many games. Has been playing much more consistently at a high level recently, but the quality was clear and he only rarely had poor games/spells.

Don't think he was overhyped really.

He’s been great from the get go. My only criticism from last season was that he never scored - this season he’s got five already….

We Spurs fans are fortunate (or unfortunate?) in that we can measure our CMs against some of the world's best, even without going too far back. In this case, Modric and Carrick, and it's starting to seem as though Bentancur is performing at a level where the comparison is meaningful.

I don't think that he's as consistent as those two, and certainly isn't dominating the tempo of games against the best clubs around, like they did, but "shades of Modric with more goals" is about as high a compliment as I can give him.

one thing about being a spurs fan is discovering these raw talents - while we haven't won much of late - the gems that we produce keep us proud of the way we approach football
 
Injury to Bentancur against Ghana. Had to go off after half an hour - he immediately realized he could not go on. Muscle tear?
 
Yea sounds like it. His first game would theoretically be about 4 weeks away, so hopefully it’s nothing too serious and he doesn’t miss too many of our matches.
 
FFS. The least Uruguay could've done when Bentancour is out anyway, was to knock out South Korea and send Son home.

Haha I had the same thought. But maybe he tweaked something and now they cannot risk making it worse.

These things were bound to happen so this is not a terrible outcome. I feel for Bentancur but he would've been a spectator for the rest of the tournament anyway. Hope he can get his recovery underway (both emotional and physical lol).
