Richarlison

I'm saying we can support a player, hope for the best from them etc but not to the detriment of the side.

Its not that I see it as black and white I simply don't see him as good enough and as I've posted for years on this board about him it's not even based purely on his Spurs stint. I watched this guy at Fulham, Everton and even Brazil. His faults aren't new, his lack of co trol is not new. This is him. I posted you the stats that even show compared to his peers he is below standard on those areas.
How is support and hope for a player going to be to the detriment of the team though?

Sure, those are his well understood weaknesses. I haven't really disagreed with that have I?

To me you come across as black and white on this. Maybe it's just me...

By ignoring his faults by just hoping for the best and not addressing the failings. Addressing the failings is accepting he's not good enough and therefore we need to improve upon him.

I come across black and white because I've already accepted the truth and because I think I simply have higher standards than you. You're willing to give it a go, hoping for the best and I just already this is a waste of time.

With a player that deserves nuance you will get it from me. Even with Tel I have nuance. I don't think he's "very good" as yet but willing to give him time, to see how he develops whilst accepting I've not seen much that I find promising as yet.

Ive watched a lot of football across many leagues in my time. I don't have a standard I expect for Tottenham and a standard for others. I just have a standard that is required if you really want to achieve something serious.

Assuming you're right that we need to replace him my support of him has no impact on that happening or not. I'm not "willing to give it a go", I accept that I have no impact on that. My willingness isn't a factor.

So that's your standard. And all players should be judged on that standard all the time?

Yes. I judge players against this standard at all times. It's not even that high a standard it's basic things like decent touch, control, decent technique etc. If you don't have these things I'm gonna have an issue.

I'm not suggesting you directly have an impact but fans thought can filter through and if the fan base as a while make excuses for a player that might influence the wider thinking.

Similar to the views on Levy/ENIC

I think addressing his failings is they coaches job
You either train them out or adapt the system to suit
Or of course don’t play the player

Richi has been immense at times in the air in our own 18 yard box. He has won so many defensive headers, and in the central area. He did it last season as well when guys like Gray and Davies were in the side and we didn't have the aerial presence. It's such a dilemma that he can't do that at the other end.

Personally, I still think left forward channel is where we may see Richi. I still feel it is his best position especially now that Kudus and Porro are slinging the ball into the box. Having Richi attacking the far post will be a weapon.

May see that with Kolo here

I think that's a useful standard, in some contexts. I also think it's useful to evaluate/judge a player based on what their usefulness is to us now, where we are in addition to where we want to be (achieving serious things). And with regards to what their qualities and weaknesses are, how are they performing compared to what we know about them as a player.

Evaluating a player based on those standards doesn't mean there are also other standards in the context of mid to long term goals for the club. Different perspectives are useful for different things.

I think as a fan base we're more likely to have a negative impact as a result of not supporting a player enough than being overly supportive. If the people in charge of transfers at Spurs are swayed to keep players and not improve on the squad because the fans like or support the player we need better people in those jobs. I don't think that's the case.
