Richarlison

I mean in the sense that they thrive at running behind teams into open space. Neither really do well dribbling against set defenders. They are direct wide players, rather than indirect ones (like Odobert say is). The best attacks have a direct vs indirect balance (perhaps one on either side)
Fully agreed. And while Richarlison offers more physicality, hold up play and "chaos" (for good and bad) he's also somewhat in that category imo. He imo doesn't really fix those balance issues, though perhaps with Solanke there we would still get enough balance, not sure.

Odobert in particular, but also Werner offers more balance than Richarlison.

I feel that Richarlison was bought to replace Kane, but with Angeball things have moved on.
A forward with better pressing and movement is the way forward, thats what we got and Richarlison will soon be on his way.

The mystery illness is also intriguing. Maybe he is permanently crocked and they want to conceal that.

We could see Werner start on the left and Richy in the middle? Both could definitely do with a goal, whilst Son needs to be managed and Solanke will be getting used to the demands of European football. Either way it's great to have options, it'll be even better once Odobert is back.
I’m with you on starting Richy down the middle

Not even seen the game as I was out watching an immense blues gig with my old man*, but a Spurs win with a Richy paneka penalty? Yeah I'll take that considering we made however many changes that we did.

Tonight it's one appearance, and one goal so putting on my stat merchant hat that's a good night's work. If it upsets you, cry more :D

Richy could be a big player for us this season. Hopefully it’s a 60 game season and if we can get him back to the player we had over the turn of last year then that will be great depth up top.

I’m not sold on Solanke (not actually sure what type of forward he is) so maybe Richy can push him for match time in key matches as the season goes on.

I like Solanke very much. Think he's a fairly complete striker who is good at a lot of things. Will take Richarlison getting back to his best form from last season to put pressure on Solanke.

Even if he doesn't do that great to have him back. Great character and we need options.

The key for me is having enough options that you and Benny talk about. Part of what happened last season was not having enough number 9 presence in an Ange system over a 41 game season. We had big gaps without Richi and whilst Sonny tried to do it his way, it wasn't the same. We often lost our pattern of play.

When I looked, Solanke had a goal contributions (goal or assist) every 150 mins last season for Bournemouth. Richi had one every 100 minutes, obviously in a better side. I reckon both could do even better than that in this evolving Spurs side. Solanke is slightly down at 140 mins, but I'm sure we can all speculate that he hasn't exactly exploded into life yet. Just look at what Johnson has done.

Options are key
I thought Richy was poor mid week
He okayed like a guy who hasn’t played in a while and was trying to get match fit
He can only do that by playing
It’s exactly why the Europa for us, at this stage of development, is perfect
