Richarlison

That's heartbreaking and encouraging at the same time. His message about seeking help is so important. Trying to overcome these kind of demons on your own can be deadly.

I imagine it's even harder to openly admit you're struggling being a professional footballer too - because of the pressure and demands you're under such scrutiny to handle week after week. Admitting "weakness" in that kind of environment takes inner strength and a lot of courage.

Big kudos to Richy for being open and honest about it. A good role model.

yet more proof that mental health has nothing to do with wealth, or status or standing - the guy is the No9 for Brazil, most people would assume he spends his life deliriously happy. Fair play to him for the honesty, lets hope we see the continuation of the new version of him which has been happier and more comfortable in his own skin.

Sometimes you get what you pay for i.e. nowt.

Are you suggesting that the value spent on a player is linked to how good their fitness record is? I'd say there's plenty of evidence to suggest otherwise across the years....

I think he's implied that admitting mental health struggles within his family and upbringing group is the hardest thing.

I'd say football (UK) for a good 5 years has opened up the mental health conversation to such a degree that all players will know there is help there and a supportive environment for those that feel the need to speak up and reach out. And Richie has been in the UK game for quite a while.

All power to him for breaking down that wall.

They are studies that highlight different mental health issues related to income
Everyone’s circumstance can lead to different challenges and problems
My wife sees people who live in £M houses and people who cant afford to eat
The key is anyone seeking help like Richy has done

Fair play to him for opening up about his struggles. Still a lot of work to do but it shows how far we’ve come that public figures now feel comfortable enough to talk about mental health in public rather than the usual “stiff upper lip” stuff we used to hear endlessly. Its not a sign of weakness to admit it, its very brave.

I mean I wouldn’t actively put him in the shop window but if a silly offer comes in then we’d have to consider it.

Richi's an issue for us because of his fitness, 12 goals for us, leads the line, we don't have another similar player, misses too many games

We should buy a striker (we clearly look worse without one), ideally we would buy one, keep Richi around for one more season, question will be what offers we get, and what money allows.

Imo the entire front line is an issue for us. Too many "almost good enough" and "not quite a good enough fit" type players. Then what happens if/when we sign someone that will be a clear first choice either centrally or wide, what happens to the players that then get more limited game time and want to be starting.

Several of those already here can be a part of the solution, but the solution could also be to sell them. Including Richarlison imo.

The summer will be a time for some difficult decisions, I have no idea what the answers should or will be. But I do know that we need a better front line.

Don't disagree but depth matters (this is the first season I've seen in a long time where at points we have had a bench that can change a game)

Sell Deki, you can play Johnson, don't buy Werner, you have Son & Solomon, sell Richi and you are hoping the replacement slots right in and has less injury problems

Yep. Ive been saying all season that the forward line isn’t good enough. Understandable given that we’ve lost Kane. We had one of the best front lines in the league for years when he was here.

Richarlison will never go to Saudi. He's got the strongest moral compass of any footballer for a long time.
When he was fit we should have dropped him for Lankshear yo really get the point home yo him that he is not welcome. Then I think he would have moved.

As it is I think your right, he sadly won't move.

The Ange version of him has been great, apart from the injury issues as you rightly mention.

Hopefully he'll be over the worst of it now, we need two proper CF type players. If we sell Richy and replace him with a 1st choice shiny star striker then we'll be in the same position as before - One injury leaves us with Son / Veliz / Johnson up front which just doesn't cut it imo. It's one step backwards to make one step forward, we actually need to strengthen the squad.

Even out on the left earlier on in the season he looked a good fit, solid interplay with Udogie and as you'd expect, worked his gonads off. If anyone can be arsed I'd be interested in how his involvement in games correlates with results, it's not absolute proof either way but when we were doing very well iirc Richy was usually in the team.

Many wrote him off and were tinkley about selling Kane without signing an out and out replacement. Smarmy fuvkers who have never played the game delighting in being able to sneer at him missing any kind of chance because it confirms their bias, much like with Werner. I don't think you ever get the whole truth in press conferences but I'd love to know what Ange thinks of him, I guess we'll see via what happens but it'd be odd to sell him after his first effective season with us.

We score more when he is on the pitch
I’ll have to see if I can find the thread on it
And he has had a lot of 30 minute spells but we do score in those phases. Of course he is not the sole reason and he may not be the reason at all but it was interesting data
