There are a few posters who tend to be pretty exercised by Levy. Rent free n all that. Everything is a conspiracy. Everything is a complaint. And half of what they post is Leeeevied. Have you been Tangod too.
I get tired of explaining how I feel about Levy, but I have been very, very clear that I hold a dialectic view. I wrote a LONG post about it. Here's short version for you.
Plus side - single greatest chairman in global sports for what he has done commercially with Tottenham. Undeniable. This great business has put us in a place to compete which (frankly) is miraculous. There is nor a better chairman/CEO in that regard, and Daniel's absolute excellence in the world of business is both undeniable and instinctual to him.
Minus side - the pitch/the game/the players do not operate like a business. They all involve high degrees of instinct and emotion (along with all the data). Football clubs are bizarre businesses as they are all about emotional attatchments; if we supported Spurs like we purchase products or services, any sane one of us would've bailed a long time ago.
In order for us to win on the pitch, Daniel has to accept that sometimes 'business' does not apply. I personally believe he tries to get there but that it is not in his DNA.
I could go on, but I wanted to clarify this 'black and white' scenario you painted.
In Daniel Levy's case, the dialectic is most certainly alive...Levy is a great businessman and chairman and he has always had trouble understanding that the work on the pitch is not linear-business driven.
Again, I personally have never, ever viewed him as machiavellian, That would be like saying Gary Doherty purposely never player like Pele. People are who they are, and hopefully, they're doing the best they can.
