Politics, politics, politics

So 5m Scots should be able to deprive 56m English and Welsh of their rights?

This wouldn't do that. You also might be over egging the amount of support that there is for this in England and Wales.

The repatriation of powers from Brussels to London, would also mean the repatriation of powers from Brussels to Edinburgh, Cardiff and Stormont. It is inconceivable that the regional governments wouldn't be consulted prior to negotiations beginning. I know that the Welsh government have also asked to join the action but have said that they are happy for the decision to trigger A50 to be made in parliament.

Again this is all due to lack of foresight and planning pre vote as no one thought it would be leave.

The leave campaign managed to completely shut down any discussion about the complexities of Brexit by accusing anyone who raised them of "doing down Britain".

I find it remarkable that Northern Ireland got so little attention and the difficulties that this will cause for the Good Friday Agreement. In fact that is still being glossed over.

NI has a catholic majority now. When that filters through to voting age in a few years, hopefully Ireland will get reunited.

There's not even much attachment between England/Wales and protestant NI. It's actually Scotland that has the bonds.

Essentially I don't see much of a future for NI and GB (great, or just plain Britain without Scotland) whatever happens with Brexit and indyref2

The remain argument was not that strong, it was lets stay because we have always stayed and for many voters outside of London, the "its always been this way" was the whose thing you could say because many of them have had brick lives for a LONG time.

I agree entirely that the remain campaign failed to explain and sell the benefits of EU membership. But this is not what we are talking about.

It was painfully obvious that leaving the EU would be a long and complex process but this was glossed over. Voters were told that it would be quick, simple and painless.

Brexit campaigners in Britain reacted with anger to the idea, arguing that it would discriminate against Leave voters and that it was “an outrage”.

wording suggests it's open to anyone who wants it regardless of their referendum vote

“This is an outrage. The EU is now attempting to divide the great British public at the exact moment we need unity. 17.4 million people voted to Leave the EU on 23 June and as a result the UK as a whole will get Brexit,”

pretty sure we're already divided

.

Of course that is just your view on what happened, to others they did not fall for the scare storys that the remain were peddling. However i am not going to start it up again i just thought that part of your post could not go unanswered.

Whether the leave campaign tried to shut down discussion about the complexities of Brexit has nothing to do with whether the remain campaign did or didn't use scare stories.

And as i said that is your view on it ( which you are entitled to do). I disagree with that view.

That is up to the individual and as long as the rest of us can live without the EU running our lives i do not see a problem with it.

The Nissan deal and commitments in Northern Ireland suggest that you will not get your wish. Both suggest that we will continue to contribute to EU budgets, be within the customs union and be bound by at least some EU legislation.

Well we will have to wait and see, my answer was to your question about the idea being put forward not to start up another debate about the wrongs and rights of Brexit.

I'm sure that you are right and that it would be be easy for you to provide links to leave policy documents or speeches from leading members of the campaign on how they will minimise the impact of Brexit on Northern Ireland.

My post was in answer to this and said that that was you view which i do not agree with.

I have been round the houses with you about Brexit and you made your views pretty clear even before the vote. I am not going round and round in circle with this/you anymore about the rights or wrongs. As you have said MANY times lets wait and see what happens instead of rehashing the same things over and over again.
