“I believe we made the right decision and the world is better and safer,” he (Tony Blair) declared.
Look mate...there are certainly many, many situations where the greater good comes from moving on when mistakes are made or wholly admitted. For me, this is not one of them.
The Iraq body-count is only a portion of the deaths and increased hostilities which have seen things go to hell in the Middle East, and Blair played his own very, VERY intricate role in making sure it all kicked off.
What about taking the country to war based on intelligence that was believed at the time?Could not agree more, as i have said elsewhere leaders of the parties in power can make decisions on health, welfare etc and they have a right to do so whether we agree with them or not. What they have no right to do is to take the country to war on a lie and in doing so caused the death of its own people and created hell in Iraq. Because he did just that he needs/deserves to be taken to task and i really hope he is.

Because that's what the report says.

There's a huge difference between a lie and a mistake. The Chilcot report is very clear about that.As far as i know they said whatever intelligence there was was inconsistent at best and it was proved to be false. You can wrap it up anyway you like ( and you will i'm sure ) but we went to war on a lie.
He's nothing of the sort - he says he's a catholic in the same way my CV says I'm good at organising myself and working with others. He's a catholic, he'll believe anything he's told to.
They have pills for that now. That phrase brings back bad memories

I'm just shocked that she was out and about in broad daylight. The woman looks as if she should be bunkered down in a crypt somewhere. She definitely "has something of the night about her."
As far as the Iraq War is concerned, well clearly it was all about the American military industrial complex and Rumsfeld and Cheney making a squillion out of Halliburton. The Americans dropped more explosives on Vietnam, than were used by all sides in the course of WW II and look how that turned out. Strangely, people take umbrage at their country being bombed back to the stone age and react accordingly. The yanks just don't get it and never will!

Come on, you've been to these things. There are very large numbers of serial protesters who will protest anything as long as it makes life difficult for those they disagree with politically.
I went on a protest once because a good mate of mine wanted to put it in a girl who was on the protest (he was successful, the protest wasn't). I know from first hand experience that a lot of people just want to be seen on a protest. Plenty more wouldn't have turned up if they'd had something better to do. Lots of other people don't wash nearly enough.
