He would be one. Italy and Germany have a few that are stronger athletes than Porro and bigger guys that IMO are more conte style.

Porro is quality from what I’ve seen but if people think sess can’t defend….

I can’t comment on gusto but the new owner at Lyon is an American and meant to be a bit “strong”

The more I hear the less appealing he sounds, feels like we're going to waste a load of money on someone who is good but not top level so overall little improvement to the first team. We'll then be up to the £130m mark spent on RBs with no long term solution in place.

I'd be more in favour of seeing if Spence could get some game time or at least a loan.

I’d take him in a heart beat
He is a good player and potentially very good
But I wouldn’t have any expectation for his defensive ability

Porro? He’s right footed isn’t he? You can count on one hand how many players contribute in an attacking way playing the wide forward role on the side of their strong foot.

It can sometimes work in a 4231 as you have one extra body in the CAM role.

In a 523 (I’m not calling it a 343) you’ve seen how Richy has faired out on the tight with pretty much no one to find inside.

Would be wing back only I reckon.

Richy can’t cross or dribble
Porro does that
Porro runs with the ball and is smart
He also has a first touch that Richy could dream of
 
The player Porro reminds me of style wise is trippier. He has a really good whip on his crosses
But he will get turned easily in defence.
That can be worked on though

It worked with Eriksen - he played on the (narrow) right and was right footed. But I agree your more direct one of the wide pairing should probably be on their inverted side.

A WB with no defensive ability (and little strength I'm guessing if he's slight) will get roasted in the PL. Granted 3 CBs should cover, they still need to be able to defend.

tAA has made a decent go of being able to attack but not defend

True but his crossing is amongst the best in the game (is Porro at that level?), he's also regularly cited as being bad defensively and doesn't get in the England team because of it and has been dropped by Klopp a few times because of it now.

At their peak they were also a far better team than us that had more of the ball and could likely compensate for it especially with VVD directing things at the back.
