Paulinho

Paulinho can still have a role to play, maybe in the second half of the season. Not sure his lack of awareness and inability to hassle and tackle effectively will every be solved, limiting his role for Poch. But he can still do things for us. We know he can score goals....

Personally I would (i) flog Dembele for say £12m and use Carroll in his place and (ii) flag Paulinho for a similar amount. You then have a large chunk of cash to bring in a top class CM or forward - at the moment we have a large chunk of 'value' stored up in Dembele or Paulinho who are rarely playing or contributing anything

Similarly Corinthians could afford a passenger in midfield as they were playing slow south American football.

I would suggest that you are being slightly disingenuous considering the fact that he won the Silver Ball behind Neymar (Golden Ball winner / player of the season) in 2011 and again in 2012 behind Ronaldinho (Golden Ball winner / player of the season)

Pochettino downplayed Paulinho's recent absence, but told me he's not injured "He's fine. It was just a football decision - nothing special"

Pochettino on Paulinho's progression: "We provide the possibility to improve everyone. Some of the players are improving at one pace" #THFC

Pochettino: "Others, maybe, take more time, but we are trying to help everyone, every single player, to progress and give their best."

Amazingly I completely agree with everything you wrote in this post, would you like to be my friend?

Haven't we been here before though with money to spend. When we sold Bale we could have pretty much afforded any midfielder in the world, I think the problem was that the top players didn't want to join us.. We can agree deals with clubs but they can't force players to sign for us. We then have to look at the next level down (Paulinho was one of these) and this is where we failed with our purchases..

Forget all that - for spurs he has been shocking. The same was said in his two

Forget all that - for spurs he has been shocking. The same was said in his two other seasons in Eastern Europe. Brazilian football is super political and look at some of the Brazilian players in the squad - average. Funny thing is mason has shown much better technical ability, tenacity and a bigger goal threat - could he get in the Brazilian squad with a new passport?

Football is a game of opinions and bias, clearly he did something right to get himself into Brazilian squad but the rest of his career looks very suspect and we should sell ASAP.

Mentally is what the article says as well as physically. I think most on here have said he looks like a guy who is mentally fragile. No doubt he has no confidence, although that shouldn't stop him getting stuck in out on the pitch.

Every time he plays, there is literally an empty shirt and shorts out there moving about on their own, with a pair of empty socks floating eerily around underneath them.

A dustbin with a broom for arms and face painted on to the side, left in the centre circle for 90mins, would get more touches of the ball.

what is it about us that attract the weak minded ? same thing that afflicts girls who keep seeking out abusive boyfriends ?

I think it's more to do with us trying to nick a player with quality above our station, and to do that we need to gamble. Sometimes it works (berba, Modric, bale, Lloris), sometimes it doesn't (Bentley, Paulihno). On reflection I think the good outways the bad.

That article sums him up. Such a disastrous signing. One of the worst players I've seen in a Spurs shirt in terms of attitude
