OMT - Tottenham Hotspur vs PSG

Yeah, I’m not at all convinced, but he deserves time and patience. Agree that having TF working with him gives him the best chance. I’m not sure the club has even worked out what his best position is yet.

As for the penalty miss, can happen to anyone. It was ALMOST perfect.
Would actually have been bearable if he done a normal run up
When you do that kind of thing you have to score
Vitinha was the same
It’s en vogue but the ones that were smashed high went in

The only downside is it would be good to have Big Kev in there on the end of them rather than his Danso Delap impression out on the touchline.

(And of course, if this is an ongoing tactic does it secure Big Kev a starting place?)
You say that but we had some giants in there and everyone was switched on for second balls
It was brilliant because of how ugly it was

Seen enough smashed high that went into Row F.

It’s a lottery. He had the bottle to step up.

Wasn't even the only one to miss, but Van de Ven won't get a fraction of the stick he will.

Eze had a very perceptive interview a while back where he explained that what he eventually learned was that social media doesn't mean anything. The abuse, the stick, the repulsive racism - none of it means anything beyond that the people typing it out have problems in their life and need to take it out on you, by saying things they wouldn't dare say to to your face.

I hope someone is reminding Tel of that tonight.
I think I've said before... 'social media' the most ironically named thing in history.

The throw in thing came off a training ground competition they had
Frank is all about marginal gains and that rally showed tonight

I'm not sure about marginal games unless we are talking about big margins. I think he has found some low hanging fruit at THFC that he eliminated at Brentford a few seasons back.

We are in much more capable and competent hands with Frank. I am so interested in where he plateaus with us.

Don't think the penalty was terrible in itself, apart from the obvious. Sent keeper the wrong way and tried to place it in the corner. Better actually than VDV's attempt. I think he was trying too hard. But credit to him for showing bottle to take it in the first place. That alone gives me some belief he'll come good. But what do I know.

😍

Did you self identify this problem ?

And how did you help yourself? Behaviour change? Interventions?

I had help mate. I didn't realize how bad it had gotten until someone very close to me told me she didn't recognise me anymore. That's when it clicked.

After that I closed nearly every social media account I had, took time off work and spent time with her and the people I loved. They helped me realize what actually mattered.

One of the hardest things was actually not posting here, tbh! Whether or not you realized it, even when we were arguing, it felt like you were all my supports - there were people here who felt the same way I did after every defeat, and it was hard staying away each time we lost on the weekend. But ultimately, I badly needed to touch grass, as the kids say. And I'm glad I was able to do so. :)

That's great mate. I actually think forums/message boards were an early form of social media and largely a forgotten one, which is a shame as they are long form enough to have a decent conversation, and due to usually being centered around a particular subject can definitely have a community feel about them.

It's fantastic (maybe lucky) you had someone close enough to be honest with you, and their observations resonated enough for you to pull away, with their help and support.
It really is a brain hack...and different SM apps do it in different ways. It's no mean feet to switch off from it, so chapeau to you Sir.

Don't mention Postecoglou ... I mentioned him once, but I think I got away with it.

The difference between the overall performance tonight and the painful dross he routinely served up was like night and day, so although it was disappointing to have led 2-0 and not ultimately won, I'm happy and looking forward to the coming season, hopefully with one or two quality additions yet to come in.

COYS.

...he really is living rent-free in your head isn't he... :tearsofjoy: :tearsofjoy: :tearsofjoy: :tearsofjoy:

Don't know if this has already been mentioned but I noticed Palhinha in the technical area in the last 5 minutes and wasn't entirly sure what he was doing. This is exactly the type of player this squad needed, mentality monster.

He is a brilliant acquisition, especially given how we will be creating this season (i.e. no typical 10).
The way he and Bentancur shut down the middle when they were on the pitch was excellent; when he went off, we dropped too deep. I think Frank made a big mistake with Tel instead of Johnson. Solanke can hold a ball up but it not nearly fit, so we needed someone to stretch the game given we don't have anyone else who can hold the ball like Richy or Kudus. Johnson would've allowed the ball overt the top and kept PSG honest. As it was, we collapsed into a deep-shell and paid the price for not being attentive enough on those details. I was frustrated by Tel, but his most egregious actions were his lack of game-awareness/speed of press. Enormously frustrating. And coupled with Dom simply trying to put minutes in his legs, it was disastrous.

We need to (at the very least) buy Eze, I'd still like both him and Savinho. We need options off the bench who can genuinely, genuinely hold the ball, create and make things happen. If we'd been able to play Richy and Eze on/off the bench tonight, I am convinced we'd have seen this through comfortably. We need that X factor quality on the bench too, or else Thomas will be fighting with one hand behind his back.

Huge credit to Thomas for the 3-5-2 BTW, really effective and I look forward to seeing it against City in a couple of weeks...

What pray tell would Johnson have done if he came on? He has no hold up game to speak of, can't dribble either. At best he would have done basically what Tel and Solanke ended up doing. I'm no fan of Johnson but that situation was not the time for him.

Ball over the top for him to run onto keeps PSG a little stretched and a little more honest.
