AVB strikes as the type who is way more concerned about what the other team will do than our own. I dont care about the opposition - I would play how we should play.

I think we will win surprisingly but it will mask the deficiencies

We'll still play the same way no matter what team we put out, but this side has the players needed to win the midfield.

Sounds like it might be Paulinho rather than Dembele in the hole for Spurs, but we'll see when the game kicks off #THFC

So Chadli and Lennon on the wings providing crosses for Paulinho and Soldado.
I really fancy Chadli against Smalling too.

Only fear is Vertonghen against Valencia. If Valencia is on his game Vertonghen does have the pace to deal with him.
I suspect United will have Wellbeck down the left and Kawaga in the hole. But if Wellbeck partners Rooney upfront they'll be ahuge handful for Dawson and Chiriches.

Really hope Lamela is injured, otherwise very strange decision to not even have him in the squad.

Feel like Jones may be a bit of a waste for them tbh, he's in there to destroy and we don't really have any creative players in the starting eleven to destroy.

At least with Dembele, Sandro and Paulinho in the centre, we're unlikely to concede 6 again! ;)

Paulinho can barely play his normal position, let alone #10. If it's not Dembele there then hopefully it's 433.

I'm not sure why that makes me feel better. Dembele might not have great vision but he's at least a bastard when he's dribbling, almost impossible to dispossess him.

I've seen nothing from Paulinho so far to suggest that he has the vision, passing or dribbling to play in the hole. Doesn't mean that he's not a good player but so far, he strikes me as being better ghosting in near the end of moves.

I hope the former, as Dembele is the least creative player in our squad.

If still 4-2-3-1, it could be Paulinho in the hole with Sandro and Dembele sitting?
 
Dawson is going to get murdered again! Really don't see why Chadli is playing after playing Thursday night. We'll play 4-4-1-1 today in my opinion to match them up. Chadli and lennon will be out and out wingers with Paulinho trying to support the isolated soldado. If he's going 4-4-1-1 why not play defoe instead of one of the central midfielders for **** sake.

This match is going to be hard to watch. Chadli hasn't played in the league since about September, there is no creative player like Sigurdsson, Holtby, Eriksen or Lamela playing and we have clearly set up for a draw at home. I want AVB to stay but these all seem like awful decisions. Hopefully I get proved wrong at the end of the game.

That was where Paulinho played for Corinthians. Tim Vickery always billed him as Lampard-ish. It was only for the national team that he played deeper, like we've been using him.

Tbh i think he was dropped from the squad so Chadli could be brought in.

no i think AVB has come up with the master plan of paulinho simply supporting Soldado in the box when the crosses from lennon and Chadli come in....i suspect we will be firing more balls into the box to somehow solve our goalscoring problems
 
This is against Untied though Paulinho doesnt need to link and pass, he's need to press them high up the pitch. United wont get any space on the ball in their own half.
More importantly he can use his aerial ability to get on the end of our wingers crosses. We're not playing 2 wingers today for the first time in an age for no reason.

Paulinho next to him making box to box runs with Dembele making runs with the ball ...
We're just like Brazil , only Dembele is in for Oscar ...
Brazils midfield is like the Spurs' midfield :) , that's AVB's thinking ...Well , I think it is COYS!!!
 
All this talk of a No. 10, anyone think AVB has told them all to just go out there and " run around a bit "?
